How early do you get to school to pick up your kids?

I live by a school and driving home today I saw people lined up down the road an hour before school let out. This school is notorious for all the kids being gone within 10min of let out so why in gods name would you sit there for over an hour to get your kids!? Am I crazy for thinking that’s crazy?

My son is in preschool and luckily, there’s no traffic or too many people. It’s a 5 minute drive to his school from our house. We do drive pass the high school and there’s always a long line. I’m kind of not looking towards that 😅

30 minutes typically. But they usually all take the bus.

Sometimes if you're out and about/leaving work it's more hassle to go home just to come out again after 20 mins to get there on time. If that's the case I'd sit and doom scroll for an hour too. Enjoy the silence before the final leg of the day starts with tired kids lol

30 mins for car line for summer camp. If you want to get your child and roll out immediately you need to be first in line. Thankfully we walk to school so no car line for us.

My mom had to wait like an hour to get my sister from school cause she had to be first in line. The school district put my brother and sister in 2 separate elementary schools. 🙄 They both got out at the same time so my mom would get my sister and then go drive across town as quick as possible to get my brother who was older.

I'm her teacher 😭

I’m there 5min before pick up for my 7 year old. I have my preschooler at our local elementary school and they release the babies 10 minutes before actually dismissal. So that’s nice I have seen parents get there extremely earl🤣 why??

I haven’t reached this stage yet but my dad would always wait an hour for us before coming out mainly because he wanted the decent car parking spot and that we always knew 10000% no matter what dad is always on time. He said he hates to think of any of us would come out school looking for him and he’s not there lol some are just more extra then others. When we lived with my mum she would be over an hour late one time 3 hours late while me and my brother (both in primary school) waited for her outside the school in the rain 👍🏼 so it just depends from parent to parent

Luckily my son takes the bus. Usually about 10mins prior to pick up is good to park and wait outside the door if I have to get him from the school. I know some people park down the street and walk to avoid the ridiculous traffic too.

An hour is crazy, but half hour is normal. If you have never done school drop off or pick up, you are in for a treat 🤣

I feel like as long as you’re not late, it’s your choice? I’m there first or second daily. I’m thankful I have the time & that option tho, im sure some aren’t that lucky. My daughter loves seeing me first when they open the doors, she has a big smile on her face & I want her to always see me right after school, she’s been there all day so 🤍

I’m in the UK my daughter leaves school at 3.10. I arrive at 3.08. They are usually always late out though like a good 10 mins. My grandma lives in Florida and she goes to collect my little cousins early.. something about a car line she has to wait in. She waits there for an hour

I’m in the UK where car lines really aren’t a thing. My daughter finishes at 3.15, I live 3 minutes walk away, so I’m there for 3.10 when the teacher opens the gates. We are home for 3.20 if we don’t go to the park.

I used to finish work at 2 and my son would come out at 3:15 so I’d go grab some lunch and find a decent spot and wait, it seems excessive but by the time I got out of work etc there was no point going home first 😅
