Walking

Hi all my son will be 15 months in a few days and is still no where near walking. He can pull himself up easily and cruise round furniture but is just not interested in walking. The HV has already reviewed this in Oct and I have another review in Jan. Should I be worried? He's good fine motor wise and has started doing a thumbs up. He's also good verbally and says things like 'uh oh' 'oh dear' 'hiya' 'bye bye' 'awww' 'dada' 'mama' 'dinner' 'mmmm' in the right context. The HV has just made me think he is behind developmentally.

I've always been told and heard that up to 18 months is normal for them to start walking, every child is different and it sounds like he's progressing well tbh if he's cruising etc, he probably isn't far off x

My LG almost 15 months and not walking too Not sure if I should be contacting HV

No need to worry. My almost 16mo isn’t walking. His Consultant Paediatrician told us 15-18mo is the normal range for walking (so walking before 15mo is actually considered early) and they would only look at a physio referral if not walking at 18mo.

He will walk when he's ready each child is different. My first was walking by 11 months but my youngest is now 13 months and no where near walking. She has a confidence issue. I wouldn't worry too much, just help encourage them ☺️

Been told that at this age little ones will focus heavily on either walking or talking but not usually both as it takes a lot. My boy is walking and moving a lot but he's yet to say any words just babble. So once their brains can walk/talk without focusing too hard they will then focus on the other one. Your LO isn't behind, he's just focused on chatting first ❤️

I agree with @Becky my boy is a great talker but is not walking on his own yet he will only if i hold one hand like @Rebecca Louise i also think he has confience issiues with walking but climbs like hes training for the mountains !😂 i dnt think you have anything to worry about he will come around soon just to things to encourage him to walk

Also agree with the comments about focusing on speech or walking. My boy is very chatty 😂
