RSV anxiety

I’m a very anxious mum when it comes to baby’s health to the point I don’t take him to baby groups etc. Me and my husband got invited to a Christmas party this weekend and we agreed to go ages ago. I know if I refused to go I’d have a discussion with husband because I haven’t been going anywhere since we have baby and that has been affecting him. What shall I do? Am I imprudent by taking him? I’m petrified that something would happen to my baby and that it would be my fault for taking him there plus I’ll also ruin Christmas for everyone if he gets sick.

I am worried about rsv! However I am Taking my baby out and taking her to classes, she enjoys them and it helps her development. It’s about managing and balancing risk

This sounds really difficult for you and i understand how you're feeling. Have you thought about going to the gp or hv for some support? Just to reassure you, my baby got rsv a few weeks ago, he has an older sister who brings home all of the germs! It developed into bronchiolitis and he wasn't very well but he got better and is fine now! Babies need to get ill to build up their immune systems and catching viruses is part of life.

I get it’s easier said than done but you can’t live your life worrying - you can’t shelter your baby forever and they could get any illness that’s not even contagious and there’s nothing we could really do about it! Take baby out but just be careful! They’re gonna get colds etc which is good to build their immune systems!
