Milestones

My baby is about to be 8 months old and I feel like she may be falling behind. I see all these other babies crawling and sitting themselves up and some even pulling themselves up to stand already. My baby will sit if I sit her up but can’t sit herself yet she can’t even get up on her knees yet my fiance and I work with her everyday but it dosnt seem to be helping. SOMEONE GIVE ME HOPE PLEASE!!!!! are there any baby’s 8 months that aren’t doing any of this either ? Is it normal or is my baby falling behind.

Was she born prematurely or full term?! My little guy is 9 months old but he was born at 28 weeks and all he can really do is roll from belly to back he can’t sit unless I help him as well and he’s not even close to standing on his own or pulling him self up and he is technically 6 months corrected going by when he was due, and have a child development lady that comes to my house once a month to help speed up the process, that could maybe be coming to look into!!

@Megan she was born early by exactly 1 month so she’s going to be 8 months but 7 months corrected

All babies are different. I've learned it's best to stop comparing. You'll drive yourself crazy. She will do it when she's ready.

@Elyse I just need reassurance that she’s not falling behind. I feel like I’m failing my child 😢 that maybe I’m not doing enough. My fiance family all tell me “oh she should be doing this and that by now” that her children where standing at this age.

You're not failing her!! My son was pulling himself standing at 6 months and my daughter wasn't until closer to 9 or 10. They are all different. The average is just that, some kids do it much earlier and some much later. I wouldn't stress about it. You're doing great!

My baby was 10 days late and didn't crawl until 10 months! 😊 he still can't stand at 11 months but is pulling up to his knees so he is getting there. We worked with him every day as well trying to encourage him but ultimately they get there on their own. I didn't mind too much but I did worry a bit seeing 8 month olds standing while mine could only just crawl at 10, but he has always been a happy and thriving baby so I knew it was just timing. Someone once said to me that unless there is something physically wrong, you've never met someone who just never learnt to walk, and I think about it all the time. Those who crawl/stand/walk quicker tend to be slower at communicating and vice versa, they can't do it all at once! Mine was babbling and chatting away like a champ from very early and got on the move later. You're doing nothing wrong, just try to follow baby's lead and go with the flow! Good luck x

Every baby is different. My LO didn’t learn how to go from lying down to sitting up until after he was 9 months, and he started crawling a few weeks later. He’s only just learnt to pull himself up to standing while holding onto something at 10.5 months. Honestly, I would say enjoy this time while LO is less mobile, once they are on the move, you will forever be chasing after them x
