You’ll be too far gone for the Combined testing for Down syndrome ect, seems like a massive failure in care x
I was meant to have mine 2nd Jan but I called them up and was like it needs to be pulled forward as I want the tests done and they did so I should be 13+3
@Laura thanks for this 🙏 I’ll try call them Monday and ask for it moved forward
I personally would definitely push for an earlier one. I had mine today at 12+ 1 but during my first midwife appointment a week or two before I asked what the window was and was told they wouldn’t want to do it outside 11-13 and half week window as, like above, you wouldn’t be able to do the testing as it would be too late.
@Charlie where I work they usually double or triple book appointment slots this time of year because it does get busy to ensure no oversight. At your gestation it’s key to get The scan so that some things like down’s, Edward’s and Patau’s syndrome can be looked/ checked for, which is between 11 and 14 weeks. I would call the hospital and point this out if they become difficult then pull out the anxiety card. Maternity units have the ability of requesting urgent scans, however urgent means it needs to take place within 3 days, but that would still be better than you waiting 3 weeks.
Mine was, I had my 12 week scan yesterday at 16+1, the sonographer didn't do much except measure the babies head and then send me off for blood tests. I did decide to book a private scan at 12 weeks though which was a much more detailed scan than my first experience with the NHS, though it was pricey! But for my peace of mind it was totally worth it.
