Born at 33 weeks

Hi guys! New preemie mom! I had my baby at 33 weeks on Wednesday and I am being discharged tmrw or Sunday. I carried my first son to full term so this is new and I am torn on the inside. Drs seem pretty confident about him, heart rate is great feeding well through tube but needs assistance with breathing and lungs….i can’t help but think the worst! Has anyone dealt with this? What is survival rate??

Hi, my son was born at 33 weeks and 1 day and he is thriving. My friend had her baby at 26 weeks and is also thriving! Your baby will be okay and is in the best place that he can be! Sending you hugs mama 🤍❣️

This is reassuring! Thank you mama!!

My 28 weeker turned two last week. Has caught up to his actual age and has no lasting effects except he’s a little on the smaller size for 2 but he’s catching up there too. So I’d say from my experience your baby will be fine. If the doctors are saying yours is doing well I’d go with that our NICU doctors and nurses were always confident in my sons will to grow and I had no reason to doubt them as they work with these babies all the time. My son was in for 62 days and left the hospital before they thought he would. He came home before his due date.

My son was born 30 weeks 4 days and just had his first birthday and is doing great.

my baby girl was born at 33 weeks this past June and she also had a feeding tube, and was on oxygen but she was doing fine regardless no other problems she fought through it all and got out of the nicu after 4 weeks. baby will be okay.

Hello! I delivered my twin boys at 34 weeks. One was in hospital due to jaundice and blood sugar the other was in NICU due to his lungs not being fully developed. He had two rounds of surfactant when he was first born then another round by day three. You baby is in great hands at the NICU l, our little fighter was in for about two weeks. The surfactant did wonders but day three was the worst day and it usually is in that case. Usually what happens is they will graduate as they get off of oxygen and then start feeding on their own and hitting their amount required to eat. Our twins will be 1 on the 13th of January and are happy and healthy and not behind milestone wise. Lots of TLC and skin to skin works wonders and reading or singing helped too.

Survival rate is high. I had our son at 34 weeks he is now 15 months old! He’s delayed with his fine motor skills but is 100% healthy. They’ll do a deep dive and test your baby for everything to make sure baby is where baby is supposed to be. I stressed the whole time though. That’s normal! I still stress and have 3 others that were full term! You got this mama!!

My first was a 29 weeker and my twins were born at 33 weeks. They are all doing amazing, my twins were off o2 by 34/35 weeks, started oral feeds at 35 and were discharged at 37 and 40 weeks. They are 6 months old now and they are doing fabulous.

All of your stories are keeping me from crying. God bless all your precious angels! Thank you everyone….im with him now doing skin to skin while he is feeding and omg he is just perfect!!
