VBAC or elective

Just looking for advice or similar experiences. I had an emergency c section in January 2024 due to a failed induction and my body not progressing in labour. I am currently 3 months pregnant with second baby due in June 2025. They've given me the option of VBAC or elective. I had my mind set on elective because my Jan baby birth for really traumatic and would just want to eliminate that but also would love to have natural birth but don't want to be induced. Ive got until May 2025 to decide but just looking for similar experiences

I had my elective 3 days ago now and I was petrified and honestly it was such a chilled out experience, the part that hurt for me was the canula, didn't feel anything else

I had similar (minus the induction) for my first. After many in depth discussions with my consultant I went for the following: VBAC but no induction, but they said I had until 41 weeks at which point they wanted me to have a c section to eliminate complications - I agreed to this. Ended up with a planned c section for other reasons, but I think it’s worth exploring all options that they are willing to offer and ask for second opinions if you’re not comfortable with what’s on the table. You have the right to choose your path, but you also need to understand the risks of all the different options. The planned c section in hindsight was perfect, definitely took the trauma out of the ‘process’

Ive heard alot of positive elective c sections, but also if your wanting a vbac and have the option too go with what feels right for you. I had a emergency with my first and they had to do a T incision so now cant even have a VBAC as high risk of uterine rupture. So i know my next is elective but im looking forward to it being more calm

I had an emergency after induction Jan 2021. I opted for a planned c section second time as didn't want to end up with another emergency. The elective was amazing and I wish I had the same experience first time.

It was likely traumatic because they induced you and more often than not, an induction is absolutely unecessary. Your body didn't progress because it wasn't ready for labour. There are so many benefits to vbac for both you and babe so my advice would go for vbac, but only a spontaneous labour, not induction like you said. It can help you feel empowered and bring back that control you probably felt you lost during your first birthing experience. I had a c-section last pregnancy and will be having a home birth this time without any sweeps, induction process and all that. Your chance of vbac are around 75% which are in line with first time birth!! X

I have the same plan that @Lucy had it’s given me the most peace to see if it happens naturally and if not I can have the section without getting too anxious about it as it’s kind of unknown!
