Soothing techniques

My LO is a little over a month old he's my first, and we've officially entered the "witching hour" phase. We have mostly just been feeding and cuddling as much as possible. Babywearing sometimes helps, but sometimes he's just too frantic. Would love to hear any advice or techniques that worked for your LOs! 🙏

If you still have a yoga ball from pre birth it’s done is amazing. It’s only thing we have found that will settle him and it’s been weeks now

Truthfully I find just singing or talking to him helps soothe him - I’ve been singing some of my favorite tunes from pregnancy and that really helps, also just holding him and soaking in the snuggles :,)

It doesn’t last forever, I remember another mum saying this too me and time felt so slow when your deep in it, but mine is 10 months now and time has gone by so quickly those days and there was some bad ones seem so distant. Things that helped swaying movement like a calm side to side, your voice, so any songs you like as reputation is really good. And water for you. You got this.

Urghhh it was bad for us. I was walking my little one around the garden in my pjs for hours to stop the tears as cuddles alone didnt work, For us it was water or fresh air to stop the crying- i could even stand with the front door open and baby would stop crying. With my first car rides used to do the trick. The other thing is you cannot calm baby if you’re upset, i called my dad in tears and he came to take baby from me so i could regulate myself with a cuppa before taking over again so definitely call in support if you can! Xxx

@Lesley I wish I could try fresh air but where I live it's currently -30°C outside. 😭

The 5 S's of baby soothing worked for us.

A bath or skin to skin contact
