6-month old sleep issues

My LO almost slept for 4-5 hours at a stretch until last month. For past couple of weeks LO has started waking up almost every hour, wants a little feed, and last night couldn’t sleep at all without being held in arms. Why is the baby craving contact sleep at this stage? Any recommendations? For reference, LO is taking almost 6 oz throughout the night. Before it would be between 3-4 oz, waking only once. Eats usually well during the day, almost all the usual bottles and some purees. Naps during the day are also short, around 30 minutes, maybe 3 times.

I think they go through sleep regression , my baby did the same for almost 2 weeks and just 2 days ago started to sleep better again

@Zsofia thank you! Hope it gets better soon. I am almost seriously considering getting a sleep expert :(

This is growth spurt time! Get ready for a new development, the next one is around 9 months. Cluster feeding, wild sleep habits, nap fights, all that fun is right on schedule for their development. I'm going through it too. I have 2 sets of routines for this

@Lauren thanks, can you share the routines?

@Div yea i have it in my head so i gotta type it up to make sense lol I'll post it soon. I'm doing nap time right now lol

Regular routine: 8am - wake-up + diaper 8:10am - feed 9am - give a quiet toy while i do bathroom or eat and talk to him (1hr) 10/11am - nap (1-1.5hr) 1 - feed (hes active and distracted so i relatch him over and over for 30min max) 1:30pm -playtime/tummy time (2hr) 3:30pm - feed 4pm - nap 5:30/6pm - feed 6/6:30pm - tummy time 7 - feed 7:30/8 - ideal bedtime but its a nap 9 - feed and play off and on til 1030/11 when he finally goes to sleep and stays 😒

Growth spurt stage: The naps are either 30min or 2hrs day by day, feedings are more frequent. His wake windows are longer even though he's tired and he's already very clingy but in these times he hollers if i put him down even beside me. So I'm extra observant of his cues. He fights sleep like a CHAMP and it can take 2hrs to get him down so I make him do lots of crawl practice, dance party, and I try to find 1 new activity idea online to try with him. Lots of noise and sensory stuff.

I’m going through the same 😭 it has been more than a month and things only get worse every day

@Lauren sounds like my baby too. She’s a champ in fighting her sleep, while rubbing her eyes and yawning 🥱 wants to be held majority of the time. Thanks for sharing your routine. I will try to be extra observant of her cues too now

@Arline it’s so tiring! Can’t get any sleep at all. She wakes up almost every hour. It’s probably been a little less than a month, but feels like forever. Definitely started after thanksgiving break.

@Div yeah I know how you feel 😭 he was not a good sleeper before but now he is waking up so often and after 2 am sometimes he doesn’t wanna go back to sleep, i really hope it’s gonna be over soon because I’m not sleeping at all, I can’t even sleep when he sleeps because he is only napping 30 min 2 times a day

@Div giving HELL some days. Going with their flow is the easiest way right now, and i cosleep so i REALLY get no rest sometimes but i make a pillow border and go to sleep before him sometimes 😭 we wake up smiling lol the days he only sleeps for 30min, I make him play and just move the location until he gets so tired of it he wants to nurse to sleep lol
