Hello there i am on day 4 recovery of a c section and I honestly felt the exact same way beforehand. After having the procedure I can say the worst bit of procedure was the canula for me and recovery hasn't been as bad as I had thought. The way the surgeons talk to you you don't even felt like your having major surgery, it's so chilled out and it was over and done with rather quickly. More than happy to answer any questions you have if you want to give me a message
I have 9 month old twins, delivered by planned c-section. It was such a lovely, calm experience for us. The team are larger than normal with having two babies, but they were all so kind and thoughtful. Every single thing was explained clearly. The person who guided/ spoke to us the most during the surgery was the antithesis, he was lovely. I lost very little blood, and recovery was quick. I was back home with our two daughters in less than 24 hours. The pain was manageable with pain relief. It’s a very special memory for me, and although nervous before, it was a lovely experience despite being major surgery. Congratulations, twin life is amazing! ❤️
I had an emergency c-section at 37 weeks with my first. I was super worried about recovery and honestly it was easier than lots of my friends who had vaginal births! I was kept in for 2 nights (due to pre-eclampsia), but the day I went home I walked (very slowly) but all around town, went for coffee and lunch with my husband and our new perfect baby! The first week or so were hard in the night sitting up the feed but my best advice is do as much slow moving as you feel you can. Slow walking, fresh air. Good luck!
I didn’t have twins but I’ve had 3 C-Sections and awaiting my fourth. With my previous ones, I had NO ISSUES! Even the doctors were impressed with how soon I was up and walking around. I was a lot younger than I am now so I was fast to heal. They put these things on my legs that were like balloons that inflate and deflate constantly to keep the circulation going and it felt like a massage 🥰 Don’t fret, Mama. You’ve got this!
My team was absolutely amazing! I wanted natural but ended up with a c section which is fine, but I told them to drug me up as much as possible because I was terrified of being awake knowing what’s happening and they did just that which was amazing. My anesthesiologist was amazing! He made me feel safe and told me to let him know if I needed anything but I was so high I don’t remember much but waking up in my room. But you need to make sure they listen to you! Be your own voice! And make sure the person with you is going to stick up for you! My nurses were amazing when it came time to get out of bed the first time. So caring and helpful! That first time they check your incision might be painful but let them know if you need pain medicine. But overall you will be fine. I mean it is terrifying to be awake for it but as long as you have a good team you should feel safe. If you can tie a sheet to the end of your bed to use to pull up on(hospital and home) try not to strain to much
I've had 2 planned c sections. Honestly wouldnt change it. I didn't have twins but I wouldn't ever change from having my sections and they would be amazing and do everything they can for you. I did skin on skin while I was being sewn up with my first. My second I was on the verge of passing out constantly and was worried I would drop him as I wasnt well and didn't respond as well as I did with my first. But they were our very quickly. You'll do great
I was the same last week! I had my baby via c section on Friday 13th 🥴 I was so nervous! But I can say it was such an amazing experience, everyone is so kind and it was all fine. Make sure you manage your pain with pain killers and advocate for yourself in whatever you feel you need. Recovery has been fine for me so far, sore yes but nothing too crazy. The worst part I found was the cannula! You will be fine xx let us know how you get on xx
I had a planned section. Was absolutely fine. Everything went smoothly. I felt no pain whatsoever during the surgery, including the insertion of the canula and the anaesthetic (and I am a very squemish person with a VERY low pain threshold so that’s saying something!!) Of course, the recovery is painful but I would 100% opt for a section again if I were to have another baby!
I had a planned section for my breech twins and it was a fantastic experience. The team were so calm, it was actually over with so quickly before I knew it I was being wheeled through the corridor with my two babes like a celebrity. I was really nervous for the spinal but didn’t feel a thing, the anaesthetist talked to me through the whole thing and made me so comfortable, was truely a special experience. You’ve got this! Xxx
I had a scheduled C-Section on 12/5 because my babe was breech the entire time. It was honestly a great experience - going in knowing when and what was happening. Yes it’ll be painful and the first 2 days you’ll feel helpless because you won’t feel your legs for a bit, but recovery has not been terrible! Just take things slow and ask for help!!
Well, I was planning a home birth and ended up being induced which led to an unplanned slightly emergent section and honestly it was a good experience and if I ever have another baby I will go with a planned section. The staff (who I had never met — I was followed by midwives my entire pregnancy) were absolutely wonderful. So calm and reassuring. I had never had surgery before so I was terrified and borderline had a full panic attack while they were prepping me.. if it wasn’t for the staff and they’re reassuring voices I think I would have found a way to jump off the table! All in all it was a good experience and once my baby was out nothing else mattered. You got this!!
