Advice on wake windows/naps

Im currently doing some reading into wake windows as I’ll be honest, up until now I’ve been fully winging this! But sleep has become a big problem so I’m trying to get a bit of a schedule together. I’ve read that ideally I should be aiming for 2.5-3.5 hours of sleep during the day across either 3/4 naps, but my little girl will only nap for MAX 30/35 minutes. It’s installed into her and typically the second it hits 32 minutes she usually springs to life - it doesn’t matter whether she’s in the cot, pram or napping on me. This happens whether it’s her first nap of the day after 6 hours sleep, or whether it’s after a 1.5/2 hour wake window. Can anyone offer any help please because I’m going out of my mind!

I see your LO is almost 5 months? My LO was like this - he only JUST started napping for more than 40 minutes and he’s almost 14 months. It can take a long time for some babies sleep to consolidate and it cab be developmentally normal for babies your LO age to only take short naps doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong. I would focus on being consistent with routine. Aim for the lower range of wake window since she sleeps less to avoid being overtired (maybe 2.5hrs). Have a good naptime routine and just stick to it! And then a consistent bedtime and routine for that as well. It will get better! x

It seems like your baby could be going through a sleep regression! First regression happens around 4 months (mine had it at 5 months) which lasts a couple weeks. It will happen again at different stages of development. There isn’t really anything you can do during a regression but continue same routine as what worked for you! There is an end to it x

My second child done this for months literally bang on 30 minutes and that was her awake I felt like it was taking me more time to get her fed and changed etc to put her down than it was for the actual sleeping part! But since we dropped to two naps she will sleep for 1.5-2 hours each nap!x

Mine is the same although does take longer contact naps. He seems happy enough with short naps though so I don’t stress x
