Is this normal?

Hi everyone, before I post, I have been to the GP and spoken to the health visitor but just want to see if anyone else's LO is like mine! My baby girl is 5 weeks old. EBF, and seems to struggle to poo. She goes 2 -3 days. On the night before she poos she will go off milk and appear to be in a little discomfort, but not enough to keep her up just make her grunt more while she is asleep. When she is awake she doesn't take much milk, going 4 hours between feeds. The poo she has is usually huge, but it is soft and yellow as normal. She trumps alot in between and they can sometimes be really smelly! 🙈😂 I self weighed her and she has put on weight since birth, she appears happy and healthy in other ways but everyone I speak to who breastfeeds is always so shocked about the not pooing for so long, I think it makes me worry I'm missing something. She can also be a little sickie after feeding, sometimes up to 2 hours after. It's never huge amounts and is usually only spit up but it is very regularly. Sorry for the long message, middle if the night mum worries and just after some reassurance or a sign I should go back to the GP 🙈 Thanks all!

I EBF, he's 3 months now. With the grunting omg I remember that! Its their active sleep but it was awful, they do grow out of it. Breastfed babies can go upto a week without pooing, mine sometimes goes 5 days- a week but when he does poo you know about it, gets everywhere and is a leaky one 🤣🤣 I think as long as she's putting weight on and doesn't seem dehydrated (soft spot not sunken) then your fine. My little one is sick all the time! Creates lots of washing haha

They're just working out their bodies. Breastfed babies can go up to 2 weeks without pooping.

Sounds normal. Seeing soooo many posts about this around the 6 week mark. Did one myself as my little one poos once a day but is so uncomfortable until she’s done it. I remember my son being the same and as his gut matured and he learnt how to poo it returned to normal. That being said always go back to GP if you feel something isn’t right.

@Danielle thank you! So reassuring to see someone else has been in the same boat! She is putting on weight and having wet nappies so I'm pretty sure she isn't dehydrated! 🥰 I best get used to the mountain of washing then! 😂😂

@Kirsten Thank you, everything I google (which I know is dangerous) said they should poo after every feed!! It really worried me!

@Rachel thank you! I do think that she is ok really, I think middle of the night anxiety kicks in and Google does not help! 🙈
