I’ll see if it’s possible to put on floor, will take my yoga mat incase it is! What are your thoughts about bed rails?
@Bonnie It largely depends on what type you use. Biggest risks are little one pulling to stand and toppling over the top, or entrapment in any gap that’s made between the mattress and the rail. My first thing would be seeing if you can reposition the bed against a wall first, and pack any gaps (if you can’t make a floor bed) and if that’s not an option then I’d look at rails. Also, in a hotel before, I’ve laid sideways with the headboard acting as a barrier on one side of baby (gaps packed), and me on the other in a c curl- I know I rouse quite easily when he fidgets though!
we always push the bed against the wall, roll towels up to go in the gap between mattress and the wall. baby monitor on CONSTANTLY. and this keeps baby safe enough until we come to bed as realistically only in the bed for 2-3 hours on their own before we come to bed anyway :)
I also usually make a wall of pillows or cushions as a buffer during this brief period so I had time to run to the bedroom if baby ever started to move but she usually just gets on all 4s and calls out rather than crawling to the edge
Any option to make it safe for cosleeping? Turn it into a floor bed? Yoga mat topper on the mattress to make it firmer? - I did this on holiday, it worked really well. Otherwise, travel cot it is! It’s the same at my in laws too. No tips really! I try to take bedding from home so it smells familiar. Other than that, he wakes more and we have to do more resettling and transferring etc. but it’s only temporary and we look forward to getting home back to our beds!
