My daughter was like this and we tried so many car seats, but she hated all the ones that can be removed and put on pushchairs. We got a convertible one and she loved it from the minute she was out in it. Well worth it, a bit annoying that if she falls asleep I have to remove her but she stays asleep and I just put her in the carrier.
It gets better!! Around 8 weeks we took the newborn insert out which helped, but really it was only time that made the difference and in long journeys I put her in the front with the air bag off
@Rachel what do you mean by a convertible one? Pls can you send a link? Thx!
Unfortunately most babies go through a stage of hating the car seat!
@Charley oh! Why do you think it is? Xx
@Mish you think they just need to get used to it? Thank you! Xx
@Rachel thank you!!! Are they more comfy for baby then? Just seen it’s one that is front and back facing!! X
@Candice very very cold here!!! But may try a slight crack because walking outside he falls asleep actually! Thank you!! X
@Gabrielle we found the carrier type ones compressed her shoulders and arms too much and she hated it. This one is more open, she can move her head and look around. She sleeps so well in it, and is happy to have a good look out the window when awake.
Oh wow ok thank you!!! She looks so happy and content!!! I might take him into Halfords to test and see if he cries! You’re right it must be comfort…. Because it’s as soon as he’s placed in it!
My first hated his car seat, now he couldn’t care less so I promise it will pass eventually! We bought a toy that we attached to the back of the seat, it was a little Einstein aquarium with little fish - that realllllly helped as he loved watching it!
I have a car seat like Rachel's and baby has never been an issue in it, it seems to sit baby more upright than the typical newborn ones so that might help
I know my brothers son was exactly the same and can still sometimes be like it too, but what helped them is bringing the car seat in and just putting him in it. Obviously not for too long, but a few minutes every couple of days and this significantly improved things! But as many people will probably tell you, all babies go through a stage of hating the car seat. Have you tried making sure the car is toasty and playing the radio? My little one prefers when the car is warm and only hysterical cries when I stop! x
@Gabrielle yes, and I don’t think mine liked the sides so close, so as soon as she was long enough we took the insert out. But also they are used to being held. We did find in general she was better when the car was moving at over 40mph, but that doesn’t help when you’re in traffic! X
My daughter was like this until she was 3 months. She liked the car window down where it makes that annoying ass sound. Eventually she got better. It gets better 🩷
