NB does not like to sleep on back!

Breastfeed baby only sleeps 30-45 mins when placed on back. She wakes up and wants boobies to fall back asleep and it’s causing her to be cranky and over eat. Causing her to spit up and be even more fussy. So tired. She’s cluster feeding because she’s tired. And it’s creating a viscous cycle. I noticed she was having longer stretches of sleep when sleeping on my chest. So I started placing her on her belly to sleep. Last night was so much better. She woke up every 2 hours during the day and every 3 hours during the night like clock work. She’s been calmer today. She’s only 2.5 weeks. But all the experts say “back to sleep” 🥲 What if I get her an owlette sock? I wonder what were all the details when they came up with that. Were these tummy babies being swaddled? Did these back placed babies also have reflux? My LO doesn’t like it. I’m not swaddling her any more. And I put her down with her arms up. She didn’t like being swaddled either unless her hands were out. Adults don’t sleep the same. How can we expect our babies to?

I would talk to the pediatrician about reflux, that sounds like our girl and she has reflux!

How olds your little one? I’m from Uk and also say sleep on back.. my little one would not sleep and still does not sleep on back. She is a reflux baby. She sleeps much better on her side / front. She can roll - she’s in a next to me crib so I have a close eye. She sleeps so much better this way. I think it’s personal choice - and of course safe.. my little one is 12 weeks My little girl doesn’t like being swaddled either always wants hands out too X

Does she take a binky ? Can you slightly elevate her head a bit With my bassinet I could slightly elevate the top that helped my daughter alot to sleep on her back with reflux ! Also wait 15 min before laying flat after eating helped! And has drops!

@Aspen she doesn’t really like the paci . I have elevated the head of her bassinet. Didn’t seem to help

I had the same experience with my baby - also had reflux. I personally was extremely nervous about something happening to him while he was sleeping on his belly so I stuck with the rough nights. I ended up switching his formula and getting the reflux medicine and that made all the difference. Shortly after that (2.5 months) he started sleeping through the night
