Bed guard or floor bed

Hello! I’ve been co sleeping for the last month with my almost 6 month old as my partner has been away. We are both converts now haha and love the cuddles. After discussing it we’ve decided to commit to co sleeping but would like to have my partner back in the bed too (he’s been in the spare room since being home) we are going to get a king size bed but wondering if people had any advice on if a bed guard would be ok to use or if we need to set it up as floor bed? He can roll but at the moment he doesn’t move about too much but I think that will change soon no doubt. Thank you!! X

Personally I love the floor bed. But - something to consider - the whole room will need to be baby proofed very soon (my baby is crawling at 7.5 months). That will likely mean removing quite a lot of stuff from the room - is that possible? But overall huge love for the floor bed. Watching her get out of bed at the moment is so empowering for her. I also think it can make it an easier transition later (but I haven't done that yet!)

I have slept with my daughter in the bed since she was born when she was under a year we had the bed up against the wall with no bedframe and would sleep with her by the wall a foam pieces between the wall and the bed for a little extra room and to keep her from falling in between the bed and the wall we tried having her in the middle but I stayed awake all night concerned he would roll on top of her

They have beds for them that attach to your bed. You might look into that. I was cosleeping with my son until he started rolling and crawling all over the place😂

We had a sidecar crib with the side off for that age then transitioned to a floor bed when LO was 13 months old. She became too mobile at that age and would try to climb over me from the crib, floor bed is definitely the safest option when they become really mobile. I believe bed rails are not recommended until 18 months due to risk of entrapment x
