15mo not talking yet

My 15mo babbles alot and makes noises, but apart from mama (mostly when he's upset) he's not saying any proper words. Should I be worried? I try not to compare to others but my friend who has a baby the same age says that she is saying a whole list of things.

My son is exactly the same, babbles a lot and can say mama/dada but not really to call us...Other than that he can't say any words yet...

We have exactly the same, and a friend exactly the same 😆 I’ve asked the community midwives and nursery staff and everyone has said not to worry at all and they get another development check around 2yo at which point they would do something about the speaking but not before as they’re all so different! Also have seen quite a few people say the same thing on here and people with older children who were the same and are now above average at school so I don’t think we should be concerned at this stage 😊

Were the same here

Same here. He also only says mama when upset! I see the babbling as a good sign, i’m sure they’ll get there 😊

My son is the same, he says mama and dada but that's about it. He babbles a lot so I think eventually they'll get there. I try not to worry as every baby is different

You say he's not saying 'proper words'. Does he have his own little words or signs that he uses and you understand them because they are his own way of communicating something. If he does that will also count. I don't think you should worry too much, but if you want to help try more face to face time, talking, playing while narrating everything, singing with gestures, reading with him looking at your face/lips rather than away from you etc. Make sure when you do this that you turn off telly and music and any background noise. Also one thing I do is, when I see that my boy stares at my lips while I'm talking to him, I try to slow down and really exaggerate lip movement. Sometimes I see him trying to repeat the same lip and tongue movement he just saw, that's the cutest thing ever 😊 Hopefully he starts chatting to you soon enough 😊❣️

My son can talk well but he can't walk, I think they just do things on their own pace xx
