@Alice so we have tried lots of different bottles but currently using the Mam ones, and we are using size 1 teats because her allergy formula is so thick, and she has been prescribed gaviscon which thickens the milk even more nothing was coming through the size 0 teats, and yes we paced bottle feeding every feed x
@Kayleigh oh it’s thick? I assumed you would be using an amino acid which is quite the opposite for an allergy? Can you get a nice wide latch like this?
@Alice we are using neocate which is for cows milk protein allergy x
A fast teat like a size one will cause a baby to struggle with the flow and gulp milk faster than they can cope which will increase milk intake and make them quite uncomfortable and sickly
@Kayleigh neocate shouldn’t be thick? I would suggest trialling it without gaviscon, paced bottle feeding in side lying position, encouraging a big wide latch to create a good seal around the bottle using a size 0 teat
Hey! This is the same for me but my baby is having 4oz trying to get him to 5, i had the mam bottles too and was doing the same with the size 1 teat due to his reflux formula, then i changed across and bought the dr brown anti colic bottles, their teats start at size 1 and it finally helped him feed to 5oz at a slower pace xx

Hey .. all babies are different so it sounds like 3oz is her current maximum. Stick with that for now. When she consistently drains her 3oz in a short amount of time, and appears hungry after eg rooting, crying .. then up her to the next size up? Her being sick sounds like over feeding xx
I made a post about this yesterday this is the same as my little girl as long as she’s gaining weight which is mine I would say it’s okay xxx
My baby was also born 2nd centile. He’s 9.5 weeks and also drinks small amounts. He’s on exclusive breastmilk bottles. Often he won’t even finish 90ml (3 Oz) and only wants 60ml (2 Oz!!). Every 2-4 hours or so
What bottles and teat size are you using? Are you paced bottle feeding?
