Nicu ptsd?

I have an almost five month old and he was in the nicu from his second day of life to about 5 weeks. Has anyone else has nicu babies? And if so, do you want another to kind of redeem your first experience? I feel like I missed out on not being able to take him home right away. I think about it all the time

Ur not alone mama, my baby was in the nicu as well. I missed out on the whole “golden period”. please be vocal about ur feelings if ur arent feeling a connection or u feel like something isnt right, say something right away to ur doctor it might be PPD and its not ur fault. Its very hard being a mom of a NICU baby. Praying for both of you.

I’m on Prozac, I was still in my spring semester at college too so everything was so much. And it took a while but I think it’s starting to help :)

Thats great! Im so glad ur feeling better.

NICU mama 🙋🏻‍♀️ my baby was premature and stayed in hospital for 3 weeks. It was really hard, not being able to touch and hold him whenever we wanted I just made the most of it once we got home 💕

I totally have had similar feelings. I feel like we go through a grieving period over our pregnancy, birth, and afterbirth not going the we had planned. I’m currently in the “let’s just adopt kids” phase. Which we have always planned to adopt but I do hope to one day birth another child. Not any time soon though. I had preeclampsia at 32 weeks and had an emergency c-section. My son was in nicu for 32 days. I feel ya girl.

My baby was a nicu baby she healthy as can be now and it right I got ppd cause I could not hold her or take her home right away

My son was in the NICU for 2 weeks. I had to have an emergency c-section at 38 weeks because I had preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome. He came out not breathing. We are both fine and healthy now, but 2 and a half years later I still have PTSD from it. I’m here if you need someone to talk/relate to. Also he was my 3rd pregnancy and my last. The whole experience traumatized me so bad that I got my tubes removed.

Your not alone mumma my son was NICU he was born at 34 week

I had twins at 28+4 one was in Nicu for 8 weeks and the other was in for 9 weeks. I was hard going. I have only just started bonding with them now but they are 5 months. It was such a lot of stress in such a short time.

Im a NICU mommy to a healthy 10 year old now❤ He was born with a birth defect and stayed 9 long weeks. I didn't get to meet him until the day after he was born. During that time I felt like I was always on auto pilot the only time I would really feel anything was bitter sweet moments seeing other babies have shorter stays than my baby. I was happy for other mommys but I wanted my baby home so bad. It was always a day by day thing. One day he would be doing so good and the dr would say we might be able to go home but then he would take a turn for the worst again... But then after 9 long weeks we went home❤ I was so traumatized when I became pregnant again I always felt like something was wrong with my other babies. Its that horrible feeling of never knowing whats going to happen when your baby is in tbe NICU

I'm know that feeling my baby boy had to nicu in Norton's children hospital in he was born with a air pocket in his lungs 5 days just pray i did it help he's now 5 months old prayers for y'all

My oldest son was a NICU baby hospitalized for 4 months hardest 4 months of my life. Then I got pregnant with my second son I had so much anxiety that I had constant appointments while I was pregnant and still he was in the NICU for a month I about went crazy. Now they are both healthy lil boys 💙

Im personally not a NICU mom but my sister is. All 3 of her babies spent at least a week or 2 in the NICU (all small and came early). She said what made her feel good was just the nurses and other parents there and little gifts she got. She now takes in little gift bags and boxes once a year to help other families in there and she also takes treats to the nurses as a thank you. Her youngest is 4 and she keeps doing :) i know that helped her with all her babies.

My LO wasnt in NICU but I had a traumatic birth with midwives refusing to listen to the fact that I was in labour so I nearly gave birth in the lift in the hospital, I went through my entire labour without pain meds (until right at the end they gave me pefadin because I couldn't have anything else on the shared ward) and I went through labour alone until the last 10 mins when my partner got there just in time. It was so traumatic and i was so out of it that I can barely remember it but I do feel like I almost want to have another so that I can HOPEFULLY have a better experience and enjoy it the way that I wanted to! X

My baby was in the nicu and she did fine. I was nervous but she was in great hands .

My little girl was born at 34+4 weeks spent 4 weeks in nicu

All of this sounds so much like my experience.. and my baby was born just this past Saturday. Currently in the midst of it all. Luckily I’m taking advantage of all resources and communicating openly about my anxiety, fears & worries but I still cry every night! Nights are the worse. Hang in there ladies!

Hey mommas! I have a NICU moms group that I started on here. I have been reading through all the comments on this post and I read them almost as if they were my own thoughts! Not taking my girls home until 60 days later was horrific for me. I’m trying to get this NICU moms group going to help other NICU mommas in our tribe! Take a look!
