Induction hospital bag

I’ve packed for going into labour spontaneously but might be having an induction now. Originally only packed 2 nighties, as knew I’d be in for at least 48 hours. What extras would you pack for an induction birth please? I’ve got kindle, iPad, snacks etc. I’m talking more about clothing!

Ear plugs!!!!! I struggled to sleep so much in hospital when being induced and you’ll need the rest! Two/three nighties should be fine, hopefully somebody can take it home to wash if needs be! I also took leggings and clothes so I could walk around the hospital

I took some maxi dresses that obviously wouldn’t be touching my belly (planned c section) so I could get dressed. I also took a compact mirror and my make up bag so I could do my make up and feel better about myself after birth which was nice. My baby literally slept aside from for feeds so I was super bored so having my make up was a good thing to keep me occupied. I also took some magazines, a book, downloaded some Netflix onto my iPad, headphones. Took a pack of cards and and dominoes. Basically anything to keep me occupied, I went into hospital at 7am and he was delivered at 935 but then I spent until the following afternoon in hospital and as I say, he slept most of time time! My husband was there during the day time but we were only allowed one other visitor for one hour but yeh just stuff to keep you occupied I would say x

Sorry that wasn’t about clothing was it 😂 but yeh loose fitting clothing in case you end up having a c section. Dark knickers like black ones in case you bleed onto them by accident. Also sliders! If you have to wear them white surgery socks you won’t be able to wear flip flops, sliders for walking around were essential for me lol

Another vote for ear plugs and also an eye mask. With my induction I was only in for 2 nights, but both nights I had the loudest, most inconsiderate people on my wards so ended up in labour with not even 2 hours sleep the previous night!

I also hardly slept for days around my induction or after emergency c section. I'd definitely make sure you have a couple loose fitting outfits, especially if they're cool, as the ward I was on was absolutely boiling, but make sure you have a cardigan/jacket/dressing gown, just something warm in case it's cold as some people said their hospitals were cold. Someone on my ward opened a window in the middle of the night and left it and I woke up shivering! Like Gemma said, sliders were great, I also brought my slippers

It didn’t happen in my case but a friend had told me not to wear my favourite pyjamas- nighty because on her case she felt they were so icky that she threw them away after, I bought some cheapo primark ones just incase that happened to me

An eye cover thing and ear plugs, it's gonna be hard to sleep in there xx

I also bought the biggest size cheap nightie from primark and wore those after she was born , so if blood etc get on it you aren't bothered xx

def agree with large dark coloured nighties and plenty of large underwear for pads and to avoid any stitches, you will probably get very warm nor want to keep changing once it all stsrts so I didn't really wear clothes, light gown too for walking about
