I felt terrible for over a week after my last egg collection (only 14 eggs). I did have some fluid on my ovaries, but my transfer still took place. Looking back now I wish we'd frozen all, so that I could recover from egg collection properly.
Totally feel you! I had egg collection in April, and had mild OHSS, we had to do a freeze all as I didn’t want to feel how I felt up until possibly 12 week pregnant. I was pretty much in bed for 4 days, started to gradually feel better day 5, bloating went on day 7, still didn’t feel totally back to normal but was able to do my usual activities. I know you feel miserable right now, but you will return to your normal self, it just takes time. Sending love 💖
@Chloe congrats girl on your baby!! Sending you lots of prayers for a full term healthy pregnancy and baby!! Ugh! Feeling like this until 8 weeks pregnant is just horrible 😩 I’m glad you are feeling more comfortable now!
@Kate did you go to the doctors afterwards to see about the fluids ? I don’t know if I should go. There’s moments I feel like I’m getting better and moments some pains come along. We are freezing but that’s because we are doing pgt. When my protocol was being given to me the nurse even told me she recommended freezing I guess she knew
I didn't seek any medical assistance. I took 2 weeks leave from work from stims, right up until my fresh transfer day, and I am so glad I did. I'm a baker and running around for 8 hours a day, and there's no way I could have worked feeling that uncomfortable. Normally I am a very active person 20,000 steps a day, the gym, but I would never have managed any of that. My first egg collection last year (different clinic) I got 9 eggs and was in discomfort for 4 days after egg collection I even went back in for a checkup. I read how some women go back to work the following day and I can't quite believe it. Freezing is definitely the best option. It gives you a couple of months or more just for your body to recover and return to normal
@Sarah thank you! 🙏🏼 it’s so tough! I honestly don’t even know what to look for to determine OHSS. I’m so glad today is Friday so I could stay in bed all day tomorrow.
@Kate yes! I don’t know how some women are able to go back to work the day after. Props to them because I had to take off 3 days and I work from home It was tough for me to move around.
That's a lot of eggs! I found the fluid retention afterwards really painful, so ate a bit more salt. Also stocked up on electrolyte drinks (you can get the tables that dissolve in water I got some called phizz) But... I was in pain until about 8 weeks pregnant. At the 8 week scan my ovaries were 10 times the size of normal ovaries (and that was on the way down so will have been bigger before that) I'm now 11 weeks and much more comfortable, still feel bloated but it's manageable now.
