Sleeping on the boob 7week LO

My LO gets hungry then seems to fall asleep pacifying on the boob and then a letdown happens and he starts sucking again. If I pop him off he wakes up and cries since he is still hungry till I put him back on and he just ends up falling asleep again any tips? I barely started a 2am pump after feeding so my nipples are sensitive and he’s causing like 3 letdowns if I leave him on the boob for 20mins. I don’t mind him using me as a pacifier but this cycle is causing him to be on me for like an hour or two and I don’t want to make it a habit also not sustainable for getting things done. I also know he shouldn’t sleep like even though he’s on my breast friend pillow.

Also is it normal to be having this many letdowns? 🙃he doesn’t mind it but since my nipples are sore they aren’t very comfortable 😂 I can feel them very strongly

I read somewhere that let downs happens like 2-3 times during a feeding session, so I'd say that's normal. If you're willing and able, you can keep a cold washcloth nearby and any time baby starts to fall asleep, just give them a pass of the washcloth and it'll wake then up enough to continue until full. My girl was a CHAMPION at falling asleep once latched, which is why we ended up doing exclusive pumping lol but thats what we did. Just took out a wet wipe and wiped her cheek or arm whenever she'd fall asleep 😅

With my first, he would always fall asleep and do the same thing waiting for a let down. Turned out he was tongue tied so he couldn't suck properly to feed other than during a let down. We got it assessed and fixed at 10 weeks old, then he would do a full feed. Still would use me to pacify randomly but not the same way. I have a 8 week old now who's doing the same thing, but I'm pretty sure she has a lip tie that we are getting assessed next week.
