What are we teaching our babies right now

My girl just turned 1 and until now there’s been specific month to month things to teach her, words, clapping whatever. now I feel lost on what to teach her or if I should even be stressing about it yet now those basics are covered. She is up to date on all her milestones, ahead on words, she loves to read books, play with toys, play with her cousins, she’s so small just living is learning lol here and there we will emphasize color size or texture of something she’s interacting with but that’s about as far as “teaching” goes. There’s no way she would sit for a workbook yet. Am I worrying too soon? What are you doing with your one year old

We practice identifying body parts, usually through songs So far mine can point to feet, ears, mouth, nose, hands and eyes We work color and word practice into play Example if playing with a ball (baby says the word ball so I add to it) I’ll say “you have the red ball” “You Threw/rolled the ball!” We play with cause and effect toys a lot We are really emphasizing shaking our heads when we say yes or no to teach the meaning behind those gestures. Baby is understanding no and the head shake but not connecting yes to the head shake. We also practice one step directions, sit down, come here etc

All they need is to be interacted with and nurtured, this teaches them. Like all the regular activities you would take your child to do is learning enough. For instance, going outside on a walk you can speak about the things that you see and give them a leaf to feel/chew (nothing poisonous obviously 😜), going to the park to work on gross motor stuff. As you read books don't so much focus on reading the exact words but like point to the pictures and slowly describe them in simple terms. Use comparison and adjective language as you interact. Sensory play with food is a learning activity. But kids learn too from being able to be off on their own, like if you go outside and just let them walk/crawl around and find something they will inevitably bang rocks together or discover what a stick can do, it is all learning for them. My biggest recommendation is get up and active not sitting on screens together or apart, learning is a social phenomena requiring human interaction.

I have been feeling the same way as you. I do the things that both pp commented. It is a battle of knowing what and when is too much or not enough.
