Hospital Bag - Baby clothes

Hi guys, so I think I've finished packing the hospital bag for baby, but I was just wodnering I've packed short sleeve bodysuits and then full sleep suits, should I have packed long sleeve bodysuits too? I guess he can arrive anytime between now and when he's due on 13th October and I never really thought about him maybe being cold! 🙈🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm probably way over thinking this but I wondered what everyone else was doing? 😅Thank you! 💕

I’m due on the 4th so baby can come at any point as well!! I’ve packed 3 x short sleeved body suits, 3 x long sleeved body suits and 3 x full sleep suits just to be safe 😂

I'll just be using short sleeve bodysuits under the sleepsuits and then will have a cardigan/blanket to wrap them up in if I think they need it.

Thanks girls! I've got a blanket and a cardigan and the hospital seems warm so I think short sleeve will be fine xx

I’ve gone for short sleeve as hospitals are always really hot and I have other layers (blankets and cardigans) plus with my first, he was being cuddled and having skin to skin 90% of the time anyway! So I’ll probably be doing that with baby girl again

i think i've put one long sleeve one in the bag but only because it's a cute 'libra' one😅 same as above, we ended up doing skin to skin pretty much the whole time we were in hospital with our first (also an october baby), so the same will probably happen again!

Girls what about legs? None of you packing any trousers?? Baby will have bare legs? 👀👀😀 My bodysuits are all no legs, so got trousers with each pair and then onesies are full on obviously.

@Gabi I just used vests and sleep suits all the time until after like 3 months. Trousers and tops are way more faff imo. Well at the start with my first I didn't realise she needed 2 layers so sometimes just vest but she was a September baby 😂 sleep suits are onesies so totally covered.

@Gabi the full sleepsuits are long sleeved and have full legs with toe covers!!🥹

@Gabi not packing any trousers, just body suits and sleep suits over the top.

Sorry still confused! Bodysuits don't have legs 👀👀🤣 Can someone take a picture of what are you refering to??? I don't mean trousers plus tops for baby. But basic bodysuits/baby grows never come with legs. Hold on

@Gabi yeah so the first picture, you'd put one of those on underneath the onesie. So nappy, short or long sleeve bodysuit, and then onesie. They need 2 layers on.

@Gabi same as what charley said - i'd call your second pic a baby grow, and the first i'd call long/short sleeve vests😅 and they'll go under the baby grow xx

@Gabi what Charley and Keisha said, first picture is vest which I would put underneath second picture, which I call a sleepsuit but others call onesie or baby grow. So no need for trousers, tops, socks or mittens. My sleepsuits have hand things which fold over and cover hands too.

Thanks for explanation everyone! I was planning to have baby wear 1 layer (either pic 1 or 2) plus jumper on top (depending where) in our flat it's boiling no matter the season.. Or maybe it's just me now being pregnant 😀 But hubs and I barely wear clothes while in old flat it would be thick adult onesies 🤣 Thanks for the advice.

@Gabi general rule is one layer more than you. So if you're in a t shirt, they should be in a vest and sleepsuit, or vest and top/trousers.

I packed a mixture of long and short for my daughter when she was born last September. I only have long sleeved bodysuits for my October baby as well as long sleeved and footed sleepsuits. I think you’ll be fine with shortsleeved things just might have to use a blanket/swaddle for an extra layer.
