How to know if I’m in labour?

I’m 39+5 weeks pregnant and have had back ache for a couple hours and on and off stomach cramps. I also lost some of my mucus plug 5 days ago after a membrane sweep. Does anyone know if this is early labour?

When my contractions started they felt like stomach cramps.

So could be. I think I was having them most of the afternoon and just dismissed them (I wasn’t at term); and it wasn’t until they escalated that and started to hurt that I did. If they start escalating - getting stronger and closer together then that’s a god indication.

Yeah sounds like the start :)

Could be, my labours started off with period type pains

I highly recommend getting the contraction timer app! For me It just started off as period cramps at 7pm, then once it got to midnight they were intense and coming every 3 minutes lasting for 30-60second. I called triage and they said could i hold on… until it gets unbearable. it got to 4am and they I called back and said I actually need pain relief now. Once I got to the hospital at 5am I was dialated 3cm. X

My labour starts as period cramps. Wasn't bad at all, but when I've started counting them with app I found out they are regular and time between them getting shorter, then I knew that those are contraction. Couple hours later I was in active labour in hospital :)

My labour also started with back pain, stomach cramps were coming but not as intense as the back so could be the start of something, I second tracking with the app x

Felt like period pains at the start for me and then they gradually got more frequent and more painful. Good luck!!
