I had a c section in April last year, and they asked us to bring a nappy and a hat down to the surgery with us. After baby came out, he got put in the nappy and hat straight after coming out, and then got put on my chest with a blanket over us both for skin to skin for the first hour or so. Once I stopped skin to skin, he got dressed in a vest and a sleep suit. I imagine maybe different hospitals might be different, but that's what happened for us. X
My baby had skin to skin in a nappy and a hat and they wrapped a towel over us. He didn’t get dressed for a few hours and just had skin to skin
Just a hat. I passed out so they helped my husband dress her then I got to do more skin to skin when I woke up
Ok thanks ladies that makes sense! 🥰🥰 it’s all getting exciting now! Xx
They’ll wrap baby in a towel and hospital blankets but Skin to skin if you can for as long as possible Don’t take your own blanket they always end up getting lost. All you need to take to theatre is a nappy and a hat
We didn’t take anything in with us, he was wrapped in a blanket and the local women’s group knit baby hats, you get to choose from the basket before you go in which I think is adorable 🥹 I actually can’t remember when we put him in actual clothes 🙈
Had my little on Friday and he was just wrapped in a towel with a hat for a few hours. Had some skin to skin and then when we got back to the ward we dressed him in vest and baby grow. Def take a few options though, we ended up going through quite a few sets of clothes over the time we were there through it taking forever to discharge us and he was very mucus-ey (very normal for csection babies)
Thank you so much everyone! Put my mind at ease I’m defo overthinking it all 😂🥰
I’m my trust, only a nappy for the baby. They give them a hat and wrap them up. They will give you all the information when you get your preop information.
Just need a hat for them. They lay on your chest under a towel until the surgery is finished... well mine did. Then you get them dressed as normal in the recovery room
Likely will be wrapped in a towel or muslin with a nappy till out of theatre that’s how mine was when I had a forceps delivery in theatre as me and hubby took turns doing skin to skin. Afterwards once we were on ward again we dressed baby in a vest, sleep suit, and hat (only had hat on for first night then took it off for the rest of our stay).
They put a nappy and hat on my daughter while we were in theatre still. Later on in the day I put a babygrow on her
My said to bring a cotton hat, short sleeved vest, sleep suit and a nappy into surgery! She said they often only use nappy & hat but good to be prepared
