From what I’ve read it seems safe to do so at 39 weeks onwards, and preferably before 41 weeks. I would share your concerns with them and see what reasoning they give you.
Great question I am not sure I have an answer for. But what I’ll say is with induction comes a higher chance of having to get an epidural, having instrumental birth and even c sections. I know hospitals get a lot of money when they perform c sections so may be that’s part of the reason for the over medicalisation of birth? Anyway, follow your instinct and let your baby be born on the day they pick- if that’s what you’re inclined to do. I did so, and would do it again x
Unfortunately a lot of doctors consider an induction easier to deal with because they can work it around their own schedule instead of labor being sprung on them whenever. So there is a big tendency for some doctors to push it hard which isn't okay. If you don't want an induction just say no, they can't force you. I'm all for elective inductions if that's what the mother wants (I've had one myself) but they absolutely shouldn't be putting pressure on you to have one
High BP can be dangerous for both mom and baby. I think most doctor don't want to battle High BP once its established so they like to take precausion as long as baby is fully developed. If your BP was truly anxiety induced and you feel good to continue with uour pregnancy than i would what is best for you. But I think they are just taking precaution.
yes it’s pretty common unfortunately. i think it’s very unnecessary, inducing before your body and baby are ready puts you at risk for more interventions or complications. hopefully you know you can decline if you want to, i did and had my baby naturally and she was perfectly healthy :)
What was the bp? How many weeks are you?
Im finding it weird too like if im healthy and baby is healthy then why yall trying to rush us. I came out 2 weeks late hut when you think about it babies have been made and born long before modern medicine which trys to discourage natural inducers based on lack of scientific evidence but again...babies have been made and born long before those 'questionable studies' were established. So it really comes down to each their own on deciding on induction if you and baby are healthy.
My doctors will only induce if medically necessary or you're a week past your due date. But I have noticed a lot of women choose elective induction. I personally never would but no judgement on ladies who go that route
@M.J I was 38 weeks at my last appointment. One reading was 150/82 my second one was 129/93. At L&D it was back to normal. All days yesterday and today all of my bp readings have been roughly 115/74 averaging! It was my anxiety and stress at my appointments that spiked it 100% They checked baby and he’s perfectly active, with plenty of fluid, and heart beat is perfect as well.
I also don’t mind meeting baby early,my body is tired. I just don’t understand why they want to rush everyone who doesn’t need it medically!!
