Low Platelets?

After getting my CBC done, my platelets are on the cusp of being low. I’m at 149 and 150 is the starting normal range. My midwife said I might not be able to get an epidural or if I need a c section would need to be put under. She then said which isn’t good for you or the baby. This really freaked me out. Anyone with a similar experience?

I have low platelets! Mine are in like the 120s ish I think? I forget the exact number. With my first pregnancy and birth, they had to take my blood when I got to the hospital in labor to make sure my platelets were high enough for the epidural. They were so I was able to get one (little annoying to have to wait for blood results back when I was ready for the epidural stat haha). This time my platelets are still low and I’m most likely facing a planned c section for placenta previa. It seems like the plan is to retest platelets around 32 or 34 weeks, then I’m sure they would have to recheck on day of procedure. I am going to ask my doctor if taking iron or any other supplements can help raise platelet counts. I really really don’t want to be put under for the procedure. I do think platelets have to be very low for that to happen. But it’s definitely scary and I totally get how you’re feeling!

My midwife said to take a B12 vitmanin and that might help? It’s definitely nerve wracking!

The only time I had really low platelets, I had to have 4 blood transfusions. I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and didn't know. I dealt with it for 2 days before I started bleeding, so I went to the hospital. That's when I found out and had emergency surgery bc I was bleeding internally. I don't mean to scare you. It was a completely different situation. However, best of luck!
