Hey @Annie I’m in the same boat! X
Also in the same boat! My cousin had a successful vbac 15 months after an emergency Csection and it went very smoothly! I’m leaning towards the repeat csection myself just because of what a nightmare the last attempt at birth was but then again I was induced early at 38 weeks, were you full term?
Hi , I had EMCS after induction in August 22. 13 months later I had a VBAC. Most docs were pushing me towards an elective but I just went with my gut and said I wanted to let my body do what it needs to unless it was life and death situation. I had laboured until 9cm with my first so a lot of docs I seen were ok with me attempting VBAC as my body did labour. This time I wanted no interventions but had 2 sweeps. My VBAC went well, waters broke at 6am and at 7:30am I was 10cm dilated and an hour later daughter was born. This was extremely quick though and my daughter did end up in NICU with sepsis and wet lungs due to coming out really quick. (Nothing to do with VBAC just the way it went I suppose) she’s fine now 🩷 I was looking for positive stories and hardly found any and just want to say that it is possible xx
@Lor I was 38+1, went it for out 3rd reduced movement (we were also being monitored for possible reduced growth) and so they said they wanted to induce me which I was fine with. I reacted badly to the pessary and baby’s HR was dropping too low so they took me for a Cat2 section but was upgraded to Cat1 on the table as they lost his HR.. he was fine but it was all a bit mad!
my babies are set to be a year apart on the dot. I asked for a VBAC but was declined one due to how close my pregnancies are.
Hey, I had an EMCS with my first and 16 months later had my second through VBAC. She had extra amniotic fluid surrounding her and was transverse. Doctors automatically wanted a c-section but I stood my ground. Ended up having a non-hormonal induction on her due date (dilapanS) which helped to open my cervix to 4cm along with the sweep. I kept up with my dates, tea, okra water and pineapple which I honestly believe helped my cervix get very soft for the induction to take easier along with the same thing we all did to get in this situation 😉. Reason being hormonal inductions have the same chemical release in human sperm.
@Annie literally an identical story to mine!! I’d say our bodies just weren’t ready at that time but our babies just needed to come out (same thing happened with my boys, reduced movements, small size and heart rate too, so weird!) Maybe in a similar situation if you’re not past your due date but baby needs to come out go csection but if all is going smoothly go for vbac when it happens naturally?
@Synthia when did you start taking okra water, dates, tea and all that stuff? Currently 32 weeks x
@Divine I started everything slowly so when I was 37 weeks I started with one cup everyday of raspberry leaf tea, dates milkshake and okra water. Then when I was 38 weeks onwards that’s when I started everything (two cups). for the okra water I made sure it sat in a bottle for 24 hours so it produced the most amount of slime.
@Synthia thank you for this, will definitely try this out x
Very similar to me. EMCS after failed induction also due to reduced movement! I’m due with my second baby in 11 days and it’ll have been 16 (almost 17) months since my c-section. I was approved as a VBAC candidate straight away and nobody tried to discourage me or change my mind. My trust has been quite supportive although I am a student midwife and made them aware of this and was firm with my decision. Definitely don’t let them scare you. Research yourself and make your own decision. The below leaflet was very helpful for me x https://www.wwl.nhs.uk/media/.leaflets/617fe94083a131.34062713.pdf
@Becca thank you this was really helpful!
