Heya! Currently4 days PP via c section! My experience has been actually not bad at all! As soon as I was able to feel again I stood up and started slowly getting around in hospital and have been since with very little pain! I’ve been on top of my pain med taking what they recommended in hospital and slowly reducing the time in between which has meant I’ve barely felt any pain sometimes where the scar is it feels heavy and honestly my period cramps have been worse at the moment! Be prepared for no poop for a few days so eat a high fibre diet which I think made that much easier for me ! First weeks are also slightly heavy feeling! I have my 5 day midwife appointment where she takes off my sticker thingy which will then leave the wound out so I don’t know how that will change anything in regard to pain! Honestly though it’s really not that bad as long as you follow what they say and have moderate movement!
Sorry super long my section was planned because baby was breech the actual procedure was 1 hour max from the moment of the pain relief to baby coming out was like 30 mins then about 30 mins for stitching all you feel is light someone is touching but not the physical stitching really weird it actually made me giggle a few times cause I was so confused
Just to balance views here - I'm 25 days post emergency c section and recovery has been v difficult and stressful. It was hard to hold, pick up or move my little one for the first 3 weeks - even getting out of bed or off the sofa was painful. Walks are still very short and painful. There's also a time where you think everything is getting better (maybe 2 weeks in) where you start to do more and are mobile but this is temporary as around week 3 you regress and pain can return with a vengeance. You'll need a lot of support in the first two weeks
The initial week and a half were hard. The first day I couldn't walk on my own. The first couple of days I couldn't stand up from the toilet on my own. First week and a half I couldn't get out of bed without help. I found it very difficult to pick my baby up out of her crib. First time I managed to get out of the house was a week after and I just walked my mum to the bus stop 2 minutes away and I really struggled on the way back and it wiped me out. But after that I got better very quickly and at 16 days pp I met some friends in the park and had a long walk and went for lunch with no issues. The main thing was to stay on top of pain meds. Set an alarm. Take them all. I started to feel quite a bit of pain around an hour before I was due to take my pain meds. A few times it was so painful I took the meds earlier than I was meant to. Also I felt no sensation of needing to wee for the first 6 weeks after, and if I went more than 4 hours without taking myself to the toilet I got really bad pain from that too 🙄
i had an emergency c section just over a year ago, the actual operation was fine they numbed me good i didn’t even feel any pressure or pulling but my recovery was really hard. i was in a lot of pain for about 3 weeks and then it gradually got better. By 6 weeks PP i felt normal again.
I had an emergency section I felt no pain at all just a little tugging / pulling but was very numb. I also felt very cold I was shaking but I think it was more shock after everything than actually being cold.. My recovery was good, I found personally getting up when they said I could after 12 hours and having a shower if you want to as soon as I could helped me but everyone is different. I was nervous to have my bandage off but it was ok, I had it changed in the hospital 4 days later and removed my the midwife completely 6 days after. It felt no different and I still have a slight numb feeling in my lower belly now ( 4 weeks pp) Definitely stay on top of pain medication also the expert midwife Epsom salts for the bath made me feel a little better much more than the standard supermarket ones. After everything I will most likely opt for an elective section next time round wasn’t bad at all in my personal experience! Hope everything goes well x
Hi there I had an emergency c-section a little over 6 weeks ago. You do not feel any pain associated with then stitching you up (they check that the area is numb a couple of times before starting the operation) but you do feel the pressure/pulling. It might be a bit weird/uncomfortable but not painful and is over quick. The part from the start to when your baby appears is like 10/15 min and then they stitch you up in about an hour but you are too preoccupied with thoughts of a newborn at that stage. Recovery is different for everyone, mine was good, try to take things slow for the first couple of weeks. Again, there would not be pain (you would be on painkillers), just a bit of a tugging feeling where they stitched you up. Good luck!❤️
