Hi Jen, sorry this is with a potty, toilet seat and ladder. I have everything and he’s the same in all scenarios. Very stubborn and refuses but very intelligent and knows exactly what he should be doing…. So I’m at a loss. I’ve been told to go bare with him and be house bound until he’s use to it…

👋☺ Hi @Leah , I always have the best success using a small toddler potty on the floor for potty learning before introducing a child to sitting up on the regular big adult toilet. At least in the beginning, until they're a little more experienced with toileting and have mastered pees & poops in a training potty. The regular big adult toilet is tall and high up off the ground. Even with a comfy child seat reducer on the toilet or a step or a ladder, it can feel unstable, wobbly, it can throw off their equilibrium and balance which causes them to tighten their core to feel more "locked on" up there. Its harder for a child to relax, relase or push to bear down for pooping if their feet are dangling and not grounded or if their legs are spread wide apart or hugging the side of the toilet. Here's a helpful video that explains the benefits and effectiveness of using a small toddler potty for training vs the regular big adult toilet. https://youtu.be/C4qHeQ5Ywm8
