C-section Cancellation Advise

And it’s happened! I was meant to have a c-section this Monday at noon, drove to hospital to after an hour wait be sent home as they were too busy. I have been high risk pregnancy but now they only consider me an elective C-section for whatever reason. I just feel I am an extra for the day and will keep moving my appointment until there’s a lucky spot. They have rescheduled for Wednesday now but this uncertainty it’s only making me anxious and dreading going there on Wednesday to be sent home empty handed again. My husband is on paternity leave already so he’s already wasting two days and we don’t have relatives close by, which means he’ll have less days to support me and help with my recovery. Anyone has experienced anything like this and can give me any advice on what I should do?

You can always start your labor because if you’re already in labor, they have to give you a C-section

Sorry to hear that. It's rubbish! I remember this with my first and we almost got cancelled after waiting all day because we were last on the list, because they've already cancelled that should hopefully bump you up the list but may be worth asking? Not sure if your husband could maybe work the odd extra day (like Tuesday) to try and keep additional paternity leave days, appreciate most places aren't that flexible really. My husbands work have said they will Officially book his leave and some annual leave so it's on the system but he will speak to his manager once baby is here to see how he wants to use it, eg go part time for longer rather than booking continuous weeks off

@Genevieve what do mean you can always start your labour?? It’s not switch you can flick!

@April I’d assume she means have an induction? I’ve just had my c section date through aswell and been told I’m last on the list for the day too, I’m dreading this happening to me 🙁 best of luck I hope you get to meet your baby soon xxx

You can ask for a induction but there are other ways to induce labor walking a lot, sex, idk if your going to be pumping but pumping can as well

Only thing I’d say is maybe ask your husband’s work if he could go in for a couple of days and delay his paternity leave? Get those days back? How annoying! So sorry to hear that!

@Genevieve none of those are a given for starting labour, it's a nice idea but you can't just decide when to start.

Actually my OBGYN recommended me to do those with my first to induce my labor naturally

@Genevieve but they're not a guarantee to start labour. Its a nice idea, but they're not guaranteed to have an effect. If they were, no one would ever go over due and everyone would have their baby on a day they chose!

There just suggestions.
