No she wants to do it herself like ways to start her labor, her baby is weighing at 6 pounds already and she’s 36 weeks
I would have her check with her doctor on this… 36 is considered full-term but there is still some development and fat gaining go on. Winter is coming. Cold/flu season, etc. if not talking with a doctor, I would wait until atleast 38 weeks to self-induce.
Has she said how she wants to do it? There aren't a lot of proven methods to self-induced, and some, like castor oil, can make you really sick. It's best to have a doctor do it when it's medically indicated.
I'd do a lot of research first before trying anything. I've seen some people on here suggest stuff to do that aren't really safe. Best to ask the doctor as well. Alternatively if she lives far away from her hospital I know some places consider medical induction based on that if she'd like to ask about that but it's best to wait. I wanted to avoid induction this time but my health is pretty bad right now so I'm being induced tomorrow since I'll be 37 weeks.
That is a very bad idea. Baby is not ready to be born at 36 weeks. Doctors won't even do it that early without a good medical reason.
6 pounds at 36 weeks is average though! So what’s the concern there? Also unless medically necessary she shouldn’t even be considering it until at least 38 weeks.. I live 2 hours away from where I’m giving birth and I will be induced for that reason but my doctor said not until I at least hit 38 weeks.
37 weeks is considered full term, and sizing isn't always accurate with ultrasounds. This doesn't sound safest for baby.
@Finn depends on the doc these days. A lot don't consider full term till 39 weeks and between 37-39 is "late preterm" or "early term". That's how they classified my 37 weeker
I started pumping colostrum with a breast pump and that’s what got me into labor!
I wish my baby only weighed 6lbs in 35 weeks and he’s estimated at 9lbs right now
Like asking her doctor to induce her early? Or asking for ways to start labor?
