Is this odd?

My baby girl (nearly 7 months) keeps doing this weird panting thing (see video below). I don’t know if it’s a problem or if it’s because she’s just realised she can make this noise. She’s totally fine in herself - chatting/babbling away and smiley as ever. There’s no consistent time in between doing it and she doesn’t do it when she’s asleep but any advice would be appreciated.

Talk to your health visitor but I think she’s just exploring as my son also make some noise and does different sound once in a while

@Fola I’ve just spoken to a midwife friend who sent me this https://en.babyconnect.com/blog/is-your-baby-panting-when-excited

@Fola feeling a lot calmer now 😂

I don't think it is odd. My boy is the same age and he's making loads of weird new noises now just because he can. He likes to scrunch his nose up and sort of blow his nose like heavy breathing through his nose if that makes sense. If I do it back he smiles so I know it's deliberate.

@Sarah amazing - thank you. I am so anxious about everything. It’s a nightmare 🙄

Hey Charlee! It's great to hear that your baby girl is happy and smiley despite the panting thing she's doing. It could just be a new noise she's discovered, but if you're concerned, it's always a good idea to check with your healthcare provider. They can give you the best advice and put your mind at ease. Keep enjoying those chats and smiles with your little one!

My girl does similar stuff. When they learn they can repeat noises they do. It’s quite cute too when they just want to make you smile so if you react to a noise they make they’ll keep doing it over and over again

@Charlee we have a dog so my girl will literally pant like a dog😳

@Gillian my son grunts like our pug 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣

@Priscilla my son thought pig snorting noises were hilarious and would properly belly laugh at them, now hes started snorting himself, especially when he laughs 😬
