Requesting Induction DECLINED!

So I’m 40 weeks today, have had a midwife appointment today…I asked to be induced this week due to being in absolute agony with PGP, I physically cannot get in and out of bed without help etc…my midwife point blank refused to book me for an induction until 41 weeks (I have had a previous section) which means they don’t want me to go over 41 weeks…I am not happy at all with her decision, I feel rather emotional and scared to go to 41 weeks as they’ve drummed into me that it comes with risks, but now she won’t let me be induced when it should be my decision? What can I do???? 🫣

Routine induction is offered from 40+6 for uncomplicated pregnancy x

@Alana I was pushed to agree to an induction at 40 weeks due to my previous section…but at the time I declined, so thats not routine?? X

@Amelia you've had a previous c section so thats not an uncomplicated pregnancy. Im supposed supposed offer induction at all with a previous c section tbh. Given the risk. X

I went to MAU last night at 40+1 for slight reduced movements (baby absolutely fine and very low risk pregnancy while time) they offered me induction straight away because I’ve gone past term and went in for reduced movements. So u could always call MAU and ask to be checked over and have a routine check

^^ my midwife is also not keen on inductions but hospital have to offer once you are 40weeks

@Keely See this is so interesting!!! They induced me at 38 weeks with my son due to reduced movements yet he met the criteria…how bizarre they pick and choose when it’s right 🤔 but that is super helpful thank you x

Yeah unfortunately unless you or the baby is unwell or seeming to not cope, you won’t be offered an induction until 41 weeks. There must be a medical reason for early induction. It’s offered for reduced movement as that can be a sign of fetal distress or baby not coping well on the inside. I was also induced at 38 weeks due to reduced movement with my son but this time not being offered induction until 41 weeks, also with a previous section, and that’s because me and baby are physically considered well x

They offered me an induction after going in 40+2 for reduced movements (I honestly think he just slept longer because our toddler kept us up all night) but now they’re bent on induction at the hospital if I go in… Luckily I plan on giving birth at home when this baby decides to come 🫠

The midwife should’ve explained this better. She does not have the power to book an earlier induction only a dr can make that decision and pelvic girdle pain is no longer an indication for induction If you really want to push for it you will need a drs review so will need to contact triage to discuss this

I was induced at 39 weeks as I had reduced movement they told me placenta might not be working as well so best to be induced
