Breech Advice

Just come back from a growth scan and she’s breech (she’s on the 95th centile at 6lb7 for ref, she’s a growing gal 💪🏼) but I’ve been advised to look in to ECV’s and the potential of having a section if she doesn’t turn in the next 2 weeks. Does anyone have any advice on how I can help to encourage her to go head down? Any exercises/things I can do? Any advice or hints/tips would be appreciated as I’m aware that the EVC success rate is low/not a comfortable procedure and I really want to avoid a section due to not having family close by to help me once my husband is back in work after paternity leave. Thank you ❤️

Look into spinning babies they have a website with exercises you can try, unfortunately I think if a baby wants to turn they will and you are limited on what you can do to encourage it xx

I feel you... Same situation on our side (he was even in the good position at some point but decided to be naughty for the scan). 😔 We got recommended Spinning babies and acupuncture. Swimming or putting music down there might help too 🤞 We are going back to the hospital today to talk about our options, but I feel so sad and drained by this news...

I’m in the same position at 35 weeks and have done loads of research. I think ultimately there’s only so much you can do, but also it doesn’t hurt to try so feel I may as well! I’ve been doing the spinning babies type exercises (there’s also videos on YouTube you can follow) - I think the essential part is the upside-down yoga poses to try and create space in the pelvis. Swimming can apparently be good, along with more basic things like putting warmth/torches/music at the bottom of your bump because babies will apparently move towards those things. The other main thing I’ve done is moxibustion/acupuncture. The moxibustion sounds a bit mad, but in some studies actually has better results than the ECV. Basically, they heat a mugwort charcoal stick and hold it near (not touching) an acupressure point on your pinkie toes for about ten mins each side. My therapist gave me the stick home for my husband to repeat each night. No luck yet but lots of movement and it’s only been a few days. GL!

If you’re in a position to pay for may private therapies moxhibustion has been shown to help turn breech babies
