Hospital Bag(s)

I know there are loads of posts about this and I have gone back and read over them. But my question is what size bags are people taking? Are you doing smaller bags(cabin size), one for during labour, one for postnatal & one for baby. Or are you doing one large suitcase for everything? I have packed a postnatal bag and a bag for baby but there are items that won’t fit so debating just doing a large suitcase for it all. I don’t want to turn up looking like I am planning to move in. But also with a planned cesarean I’m aware I will be unable to carry when leaving so 1 bag to wheel out may be easier than 3 separate bags if partner has the car seat.

With my first I took a small cabin suitcase and a sports bag like the holdall type. Aiming to do the same this time x

I had a small suitcase and travel back last time, I’ve decided to take less this time and managed to squeeze into one just the travel bag this time round. (Didn’t use most stuff last time and home is 20mins from hospital so anything missing can be brought in)

I’ve packed a large suitcase - I’d rather take too much than panic because I’ve not taken enough🤷‍♀️ - it’s on wheels so I can wheel one bag out while my partner carries baby! I also found that my cabin suitcase was not nearly big enough after I’d put a towel and some of baby’s things in x

@Rhi That’s what I have found too! With a cesarean I know I will be in for at least 1 night and I’ll need a shower. But it could be up to 3-5 nights depending on me and baby. But then I wonder if a large suitcase is too excessive 😅

I don’t think so! Considering you want to make life easier for you, especially since you’re having a C-Section, ONE suitcase on wheels is far less of a strain on you than trying to balance a small suitcase and 1-2 bags! X

I've done medium cabin bag and then changing bag for baby's things. I've then got another bag in the car for if we stay more than one night with more clothes for me and baby

I’ve packed a medium size suitcase with one half for baby and one half for me and a big rucksack for all the bits and pieces, snacks and my partner’s things

im taking a large suitcase i would suggest to do the same overpacking would be better than under packing and stressing about not having certain bits

I've got 3 bags: 1. A cabin bag for overnight stays/the actual birth with spare outfits for me and my husband, my labour/delivery outfit, and all my essentials. This is my overnight bag as I was admitted twice at 33w so I've had it prepared anyway. Now we're closer to the due date, I put my delivery outfit and essentials (Peri bottle, Spritz for Bits, pads, towel, etc.) and have now turned it into my birth bag. There's no baby stuff in this because there's no point carrying around baby stuff until baby is almost here. 2. A small luggage on wheels for more of my spares and all baby stuff. This can come out of the car any time after baby is born. I imagine realistically, when I am in early labour, I plan to walk as much as I can so will try to be motivated to walk to the car to get it. (If I give up my husband can run there and run back with it.) I put enough to last up to 3/4 days in this. 3. In case we have to stay a week or longer, more of the above is in a larger main luggage on wheels.

I’ve got a medium-large suitcase for me and a cabin bag for baby. Last time I was in for four days and I needed the majority of the stuff (although it was covid restrictions and I wasn’t allowed to leave the room)

I’m taking a cabin case with my things in, a hold-all with baby stuff in and a bag with my towel, baby blankets, snacks & a packet of ready made bottles. I don’t know how anyone fits everything into 1 bag!
