Depression

Is depression common during pregnancy period? Am 24 weeks currently and feel depressed with no hope most of the time. Little things irritates me. Sometimes I don’t want my hubby to leave me while at times don’t even want to see him😡. In general, life is normal with some ups and downs. I am really concerned about postpartum depression too. This will be my first baby and have heard after delivery few females are depressed for years and are suicidal. Also, I don’t like to be social and enjoy my own company. People give me anxiety.

I feel like you’ve written exactly what I’m feeling and thinking. I’m also 24 weeks pregnant and feel very alone and depressed for the same reasons you’ve listed. Let’s hope this is hormonal and we get through this. 🤍 sending you lots of love and hope!

I have PMDD during my cycle, and while pregnant (this is my second) I get some STRONG emotions. I thought all of this would lead to PPD, but for me, it didn't. I think I suffered from mild post partum anxiety, but never had it diagnosed or treated. I've heard from a lot of women that within a week of giving birth, a lot of their weird emotional stuff (like absolutely hating their husbands) went away. My best advice is to be honest about your feelings and emotions with your OB, now and after birth. If you feel like they aren't taking you seriously, then ask to speak to another Dr in their practice, cause I think there are usually more than one.
