I cry and cry and cry. I just keep reorganizing my counters every 3 days to keep him on his toes
If you let them see the countertop and show them things it’s not as intriguing for them. They are just exploring. Guide them to explore with you. If you discourage this they will most likely do it sneakily and that’s more dangerous. Just show them why thugs are not toys (sharp, fragile, hot, etc) but letting them explore in a safe way really helped mine to not get into too much in their own!
@Tiff I wishhh my son is obsessed with bugs anything he finds he plays w 😭 literally live spider crawling on his hands and one time it jumped at me I was mortified
@Parker 又 gotta switch it up lol I obsessively think about what’s on my counters🙃
@Clara I do and when I let them help they start thinking they can do it by themselves no matter how much I say only with mama helping you etc, so I try to say only mama can touch. Only parts they don’t play w for their safety is the stove cus one tapped the burner and hurt herself ofc when I wasn’t looking
I have to literally hide the knives in fear cus they will not stop touching or trying to imitate me or do what I do smh
Yeah it's just child proofing. Give things a permanent home in places that isn't the counter.
i have a toddler tower it’s just like a safe stool for them and i put it at my counters in a safe area where i dont have anything he can hurt. usually he just climbs up on the tower instead of touching all over
A practical thing my mom came up with is just a ton of 2 or 3 tier lil shelf organizers! I don’t have a ton of counter space in total, so having space on my counters that allows for stacking is very helpful. For our knives we got a magnet utensil holder & stuck it to the very top corner of the side of our fridge
@Heidi 😂😂 my kids are terrified of spiders right now so it just so happened to be a working strategy lol . I did also move knives and certain things up and away out of reachable drawers and cabinets. They got a little too confident with the kids knives and have helped themselves to sharp ones I have to open things and I’ve caught them like mid slicing of an Amazon box 😅
@Ella not even just if I run to another room and leave powder mash potatoes they’ll go to townnn (they did indeed get mash potato everywhere and even mixed some with water smh) and then they’ll also help each other scale the counter without a chair to each the very top cabinets. thinking I need a safe for dangerous items or put it contained in locked cabinet but the only issue is that’s where we keep our chemicals so idk
@Sam my babies move their chairs and have a tantrum when I’ve warned them not to move because there’s too much on the counter cus they gotta go back to the living room I can never win unless I bribe them I feel like
@Parker 又 that sounds helpful but I just think my kids are too adventurous and curious I have everything hidden or very top of cabinets also hidden in cabinets smh
Yeah you can't leave little kids unsupervised ☺️

@Ella it’s not even that he will wake up 5am and just go with our door a foot away open I’m a light sleeper we just need an bell on their door cus he can get through child locks and will absolutely climb a baby gate I feel so lost with my wild child
@Heidi some parents definitely do have to put more effort into baby proofing than others. Alas the world is not fair.
Nothing worked so I literally put a fake Halloween spider near the entryway of my kitchen and they stopped coming in because they were scared of it 😂😂
