POTTY TRAINING BOYSđź’™

I’m going to start potty training my son soon, but would like some tips please! He’s not got many words but does understand the potty, what to do in it, so I do think he is ready. I’ve heard boys are harder to train, so any tip and tricks are welcome thank youuu!

I have recently potty trained my little boy he is 2. He was showing signs, taking off his nappy, telling me he had done a wee etc. I went cold turkey… brought a carry potty to take out with us and a potty for at home. I spent 3 days in doors with him and letting him be free lol.. I made him drink loads like 3 bottles of water meaning he was weeing so much but meant I could keep putting him on the potty loads so he got used to it. We still have accidents every now and then but overall he got it very quickly. Plenty of praise and a fuss when they do a wee or poo on the potty. If they miss the potty a gentle reminder of where they go for a wee or poo. Good luck! Xx

@Erin Hill thank you for the advice!! Do you put a nappy back on for overnight or not? Fingers crossed it doesn’t take long, I’ve only got a week while he’s off for half term x

@Paige I still put him in a nappy over night as he is no way ready for that stage yet. I did put him in a nappy for the first couple of days when he had a nap but now he is dry during naps so no more nappy at nap time. Nursery do exactly the same as I do at home. I was honestly shocked how quickly my little one understood and managed to do it.

@Erin Hill Great thank you!! X

@Paige how do you deal when out and about? Like if you were walking down the high road and he needed a wee would you just set up on the pavement? This is the thing that makes me nervous the most - ie honouring his privacy and encouraging him to go at the same time x
