Induction?

So with my first I was induced at 39 weeks but this time around I’m debating refusing induction. I’m due the day after Christmas so I know that it’s going to be brought up at some point because a lot of doctors don’t want to work that close to the holidays. Im just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on refusing or if I’m being completely selfish by wanting to refuse.

it’s definitely not selfish to refuse. it’s your body and you should be able to plan out what makes you comfortable when it comes to your birth.

I mean someone has to work those days whether you have you baby or not. If you don’t want it tell them no.

I would steer clear of induction as much as possible because it can lead to a lot of unnecessary interventions. I was induced with my first when I was 18, because dr talked me into it (no medical reason, completely healthy) and I had no idea of the risks involved. The pitocin made my contractions start up and go from 0-100 quick. I got an epidural but it didn’t work right and only made my legs numb while not relieving me of the pain… so that made pushing even harder. When it came time to push, my son kept “turtling” and they had to use a vacuum on his head to help pull him out. He was starting to get stressed and his bp was rising so it was a rush to get him out. He ended up pooping inside of me which could’ve been bad… all that to say my labor could have been a lot worse and I’m thankful it wasn’t. But having gone through that, and reading stories of many others, I would never recommend induction unless absolutely necessary.

I’m thinking of getting an induction if I go over my due date which is December 23rd. I really want this baby before January.

If there is no medically necessary reason to be induced then I would not be

@Amber I understand that. My first baby I was induced because I just couldn’t do it anymore 🙃 but with this one I want to let her bake and come out when SHES ready

@Amber im thinking the same thing. My due date is the 28th
