Ear infection or grabbing his ears??

My baby is happy. He sleeps through the night but when he’s upset, he’ll grab his ears or pull on his ears and scream like he’s in pain. Most of the time he’s calm but he gets these moments where he’s flipping out and covers his ears. He doesn’t have a temp and again he’s happy most of the time. Does anyone else’s baby grab their ears when they’re upset??

my baby does this too and i’m still not sure what it means. same as yours only when upset

Same here, he’ll pull his ears or scratch the back of his head when he’s stressed or tired

Thank you for answering! I was starting to get stressed but to know he’s not the only one, helps.

Could be an early sign of teething!

I was told rubbing ears is a sign of teething! My baby is definitely teething and does this

My baby does this too, could be teething, could also be a sign of over tiredness! The vagus nerve runs through the ear, and since babies are so freaking smart, stimulating that nerve helps calm the nervous system and helps them “relax” for bedtime

I think if the baby had an ear infection the crying would not stop. I heard it’s pretty awful. Grabbing the ears is a tired cue- good time for you to soothe and start trying to get the baby to sleep
