Royal Sussex experiences???

Hello! I would love to hear your thoughts about the Royal Sussex maternity department. I’m due with baby number 2 in February and I’d love to hear some details about your experiences, good and bad, what are the wards/rooms like, staffing experiences etc… anything you think you would have liked to know before going! I know I can arrange a tour but it’s not the same as hearing real stories. I’m likely going to have a c-section too so would love to hear from others who’ve had the same. I had a bad experience with the hospital I had with baby number one so am a little nervous! Thanks xxx

I had an elective c section at royal Sussex and the team were great. They do electives 2 days a week in a brand new theatre. Was a great experience!

Hi, I ended up having a c section which was not intended at all but all the team and midwives were amazing. I ended up being in the hospital a lot longer than expected too due to little one being jaundice. I got to know what felt like the whole of the midwife team. Couldn’t fault them at all. They were all amazing.

I had the same experience as Heidi - elective caesarean which was a fantastic experience. I’ve been to see Tina Mason (woman’s physio) and she’s been very impressed with the quality of the scar and how neat it is, and I’ve had no recovery issues. I would also add that they’re very on it with food - all hospital lists I saw said to bring snacks but honestly they were so attentive there that I didn’t really need them!

I ended up having an c-section, Everything was so cared for, Such amazing help!

Overall amazing experience. 2 not so great encounters with 2 midwives. Head Surgeon was world class (apparently) which lead to a very very good c section scar that every midwife and doctor commented on (oh your surgeon was so so, I can see from your notes. No wonder your scar is so good). I was there a week and everything was mostly great.

I have baby number two due in Feb too. Going to have an elective. My first was an emergency and fine. x

I had an emergency c section just over a week ago now at royal Sussex, they were great the whole midwife team, surgeons! Were very efficient and acted very quickly x
