Blood Pressure

I’ve within the last two weeks I’ve had 2 readings that showed my blood pressure being elevated. With that being said doctor wants to induce me at 37 weeks. I’ve had a very calm pregnancy so this was a shocker. However now that the induction is scheduled I’ve had normal BP reading for a week now. Has anyone went through this before? I really was against inductions unless I absolutely have to but now I feel like I’m forcing this baby to come when everything seems okay.

Yes I’m in the same boat. Blood pressure has been fine the whole pregnancy last two weeks it’s been elevated. Moved my due date up now have to have her at 37 weeks.

@Destiny Starr I seen that it’s normal but now my blood pressure has been fine consistency but they think I should continue with the induction

What were your high bp readings?

Yes, same I check mine at home and it’s been good and lately at my doctors appointments it’s been good, my doctor said it’s best to do it at 37 weeks because it could possibly be signs of early preeclampsia 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

Preeclampsia can hit really suddenly and be very dangerous - I have a friend who after a fully healthy pregnancy suddenly had to deliver IMMEDIATELY a couple weeks ago at a standard appointment because her BP had skyrocketed out of nowhere. Babies and her are healthy and in recovery now but they're still having to monitor her with medication.

My situation was the same. My BP kept increasing for a week and then suddenly it shot up even more and then they operated me that night. They said leaving the baby in there is riskier than getting the baby out which shouldn’t be a problem coz he was full term by then and healthy. The night I was operated on I was 38 weeks exact. Don’t worry about it, trust your body and baby for the timing they have decided. You’ll do great 🫶🏻

@Andrea it was 141/80 and 145/80 ish I think

@Brittany these comments are very reassuring thank you 🥺😭

@Destiny Starr thank you! I just felt like I was forcing this now that everything normal or want to make sure I’m doing the right thing.

@Sandy thank you 🥺 I’m going to trust the process.

I started having higher than my usual bp around week 35/36 (130s/80s) so because it was nothing over 140/90 it wasn’t an issue. At my 38w2 appointment my reading was 145/86 (and still 1cm despite on and off very mild contractions the two days prior) so I was sent to triage for monitoring. Over those 4 hours I only had one reading that was also over 140 so I was allowed to go home, but I had dilated to 3cm so they offered to break my water and I accepted. Had baby 3 hours later and still no bp issues since then (knock on wood)

Personally I wouldn’t risk it… baby is better out than staying in if your blood pressure is fluctuating. I had high blood pressure after birth with my first and not before hand. It’s very scary and dangerous. Also have you been taking baby aspirin daily ?

It’s not worth the risk. My blood pressure fluctuated for a week then went back to normal for a couple weeks and spiked back up at 37 weeks. I was admitted for induction, baby born health but my BP was still elevated after birth. Currently on BP meds and being monitored weekly.

Yep. Got diagnosed with hypertension at 30 weeks and they want to deliver at 37 weeks. Every blood pressure reading since has been normal. I don’t know what happened that day. I’ve been monitored twice weekly since with ultrasounds and no stress tests.
