Personally I'd avoid clary sage unless you have an aromatherapist or midwife advising you. It can be quite potent and needs to be used correctly. Also if you plan to use it when in labour we were advised in our antenatal classes they don't really like it on the wards due to other mums.
I used clary sage - I mixed it in almond oil and had my husband massage my legs and ankles with it. It is said to induce labour - in fact, you cannot use it whatsoever in hospital because it’s unsafe for staff who may be pregnant (not at a stage to give birth yet) as it can cause a miscarriage. If you want my advice based on what my midwife told me, do everything and anything that makes you happy. No one knows what brings on labour, but oxytocin, the happy hormone, is essential in labour, it’s what they medicate you with during an induction in hospital. Things like feeling loved, cuddling, eating foods you love, relaxing in baths and having massages will help produce it naturally. The human body will not go into labour naturally if it is stressed, so having a positive environment is essential. Raspberry leaf tea is said to soften the cervix and strengthen the muscles of the womb, which will help with your labour and reduce risk of intervention - it won’t actually bring it on.
i used clary sage it brought on contractions for me obly used 2 drops rubbed onto my stomach
I believe they recommend 6 dates a day also! :) I was doing that and raspberry tea and went in 5 days before my due date, even as a FTM
