Frozen Colostrum

Any recommendations for cool bags/freezer containers to take to the hospital to stop colostrum from defrosting?

Nhs recommend that you leave it at home and ask someone to bring it in when needed. Just in case yiu get sent back. Just use a normal lunch box with ice packs.

Look on Amazon for an insulin travel case! Insulin has to be stored as a particular temp, so they are made for storing very cold, small doses!

@Conchi do you know where you’ve read this? As on any NHS colostrum harvesting info page that I’ve seen, it says these will be stored in a fridge/freezer for you. I’ve also read a lot of other birth stories where this was handed to the midwives who stored it ready for baby x

@Sophie they will store for you. Its only in case you get sent home. https://www.nth.nhs.uk/resources/colostrum-harvesting/

@Scarlet great advice thank you!
