Breastfed Baby Won’t Take Bottle

My exclusively breastfed baby won’t take a bottle. In fact, she cries intensely upon any introduction of a bottle nipple! I’ve bought every single bottle including the $30 bottle that looks like a real breast and nipple lol. Who else has gone thru this and how did you finally get your LO to know a bottle is their friend? We need to be ready when I go back to work in January!

I had this problem too. Found that the Dr browns anti colic bottle with a narrow neck is my baby's favorite bottle. All the other bottles we tried would choke him and he needs to be in an upright position with the bottle horizontal for him to take it. Then our next problem was getting used to dad giving him the bottle (success yesterday)! I saw a Facebook reel about introducing a bottle and she suggested to just start by holding the nipple to babies lower lip a couple times per day and letting baby explore it and taking initiative. And then as baby starts to eventually suck on it then adding in milk using a syringe so baby can see it as a way to get food too. Good luck!

Yes, going through the same thing. Tried a few different bottles and so far the Dr Browns seems to be the winner. I basically trick my baby into taking it by latching to my breast first and then slipping the bottle nipple in while he's sucking. It's the only way he'll suck on it, otherwise he just pushes it out. Definitely looking for tips as well!

On Facebook the person I found on reels is called "The Mama Coach" one of her videos is about getting a breastfed baby to take a bottle.

What kind of paci does she like? That’ll give a clue as to what type of bottle she will take.

If it’s the MAM ones they also make bottles. My son was EB and those are the ONLY bottles he will take

@Mackenzie she won’t take a paci either! She recently discovered her hands but this girl will not do bottles or pacis 😭

Thanks everyone for the tips - it’s going to be a journey for sure but hopefully we’ll get there. We’re playing with the bottles every day and offering the bottles (and wasting a lot of formula and breast milk) every day
