Baby sign language

I'm thinking about learning some basic baby sign language to use with my LO and am a bit confused with the different options. I want to use the same signs as the nursery my baby will go to in a few months time and they've said that they use the same signs as 'sing and sign'. I can't really afford to go to the classes right now as budgets are super tight but have found some free Makaton resources - does anyone know if they are the same signs? Also can anyone recommend any other useful free resources? TIA!

I’m not sure on sing and sign particularly but I love makaton, I’m a SEN teacher so use it at work and it really is amazing for babies and young children too. I know where I am based a lot of nursery’s and foundation phases in schools use makaton. There are lots of videos online. Singing hands on YouTube are amazing. I would just do a few basics like ‘more’, ‘go’, ‘mummy’ and you just use it as your speaking to little one. Don’t go overboard. Try to incorporate one sign a week, and see how it goes!

We started signing milk at 3 months, she’s nearly 6 months and is showing signs of coping. But she stops crying now and knows it’s coming when we sign xx

I am also looking to teach my LO makaton as that's why her nursery will be using. I follow parents _who_makaton on Instagram who have made it really easy to learn signs as they do one everyday.

Thanks very much everyone! Really helpful x
