Did they try to move her manually (External Cephalic Version (ECV)? The procedure is done externally by applying firm pressure to your abdomen, effective around 50% of the time, might be worth a shot! I have a doula who also told me there are positions you can sit in to help encourage baby to move to a head down position.
@Lindsey i didn’t even know this was an option!
Interesting- I’ve read that babies can keep moving even after 37-38’weeks to head down.: I would question this a bit…. Yes to Lindsey’s above- also sitting in certain positions and I’ve heard doing handstands underwater
They not just gnna give her time to flip?? Are there any other medical concerns? Because this feels like they’re rushing you.. babies usually settle in the position they’ll stay in at 37 weeks
Why so soon? Pelvic thrust may help, and other repositioning techniques. It seems far too early to just assume baby won’t move. You can still give vaginal birth to a breeched baby. It’s pretty normal. I can’t stand how they fear monger moms.
I will be having an ultrasound and a NST test done every Friday from now until then, I will also be having a more in depth ultrasound on the 18th and if baby does not flip by the latest point at or close to 39 weeks they will continue with a c-section, if by some miracle baby flips I will be having her vaginally, but if by the 29th baby has not flipped I will be having her via c-section. It’s almost as if I don’t have a choice at this point, They are almost pushing it on me, but they want to have it scheduled now, so if she is still breech by the 29th they don’t risk me going into labor on my own.
@Kijahne No other medical concerns, but baby has been breech since the 20 week anatomy scan so they are concerned that she may not flip. And I failed my last NST test so they are concerned about that as well.
@Kijahne I also have edema and now I just broke out in the PUPPPs rash as well, so there’s a few things that are I guess “worries”.
34 weeks is still early, some babies don’t flip until you’re in labor. I would recommend going on the spinning babies website and specifically doing forward leaning inversions daily. If chiropractic or acupuncture is in your budget, they are also both highly effective for flipping a breech baby. A breech baby really should not be a reason to schedule a C-section until 39 weeks or later.
@Victoria I currently see a chiropractor because of an accident I got into before I had my first daughter and he said the same thing! So I’m hoping it does the trick, I’ve also done a few other things to get her to flip but I think she’s pretty comfortable where she is because she has not budged.
@Courtney They are good at forcing things on people, which I hate. Especially c-sections. They tend to do this whether baby is breeched or not. Regardless, I wish you the absolute best. Glad you’re seeing a chiropractor. Some doulas and midwives specialize in turning babies as well.
@courtney ask much more questions please 🙏🏾 I understand they are concerned but this again sounds rushed to me also get a second opinion if you can because my baby was side ways at 20weeks but he’s been moving and grooving and is head down now at 35 weeks. C sections cost more and a lot of the times are unnecessarily done on women for the smallest things I also have edema but my doctor gave me 6 other things to watch out for in addition to the swelling. Is your pressure high? Are you seeing spots? Blurred vision? Headaches? Dizzy? Because swelling is normal in a lot of cases. And as for the rash… that’s also normal and just comes from fast weight gain in pregnancy it won’t harm you or the baby. I feel like they are trying to scare you. hearing all of this I would be scared too but don’t go to that office like you know nothing because you know your body better than anyone. I let them know you want to wait until your baby is full term at 37 weeks before you schedule anything
Look into Spinning Babies and consider seeing a prenatal chiro to support baby’s positioning, too. You can also do kneeling inversions from the couch, work on breathing, hip & pelvic floor exercises, etc. I’d definitely ask about the benefits & risks of waiting for baby to move. Good luck!
Following because it’s also my first time C section after a vaginal
