Induction day today!!

I'm 38 weeks on the dot and after being admitted for almost a week already with pains and tightenings, they've decided to induce me today! Can anyone share how long their induction took and what method they went for? I'm hoping it's not too long as I can't cope with pain for long periods of time. I've also heard that 2nd pregnancies are usually way faster. My first was all natural at 39 weeks with just gas and air but this time I'm being induced.... Any tips and advice is appreciated!!!

Update: Had the balloon inserted and was prepared for a lot of pain🤦‍♀️ Only for them to tell me it was already inserted and I was ready to go back to my room. Didn't feel a thing and I'm genuinely shocked as I've heard people say it's the worst pain in their life.

This is good to hear as I’m having the balloon on Thursday!

@Kirsty honestly, I'm quite shocked after hearing all those stories about it being painful. So far the most pain I've experienced is period like cramping but it was managed with paracetamol. I'm still able to walk comfortably. Going toilet is a bit uncomfortable but manageable. I'm contracting so hopefully the balloon falls out soon!! Good luck with your induction, hope it goes well xx

Update: Balloon fell out 18 hrs after being put in. Put in at 3pm, fell out at 9am the next day. No pains but having contractions. Dilated and cervix is open. They're going to break my waters soon and hopefully baby will be earthside soon!

Ah bless you good luck and hope baby is here soon for you. Did they send you home after they inserted the balloon or did you stay in?

@Kirsty I stayed in. I've been admitted since the 31st October 😬 Still waiting on a bed to have my waters broken over 24 hours after they started the induction.

Ah bless you I bet you’re climbing the walls in there!

@Kirsty Baby Girl arrived 10/11/2024 @ 12:32PM via vaginal delivery with no complications. Honestly, as stressful as it was, just glad she's here!!

Ah excellent congratulations! Now you can enjoy being a mummy! Well done you xx
